RNY tomorrow!

My surgery is tomorrow morning and I'm kind of worried about blood clots and the gas that everyone seems to get from surgery, due to me being in a wheelchair and not being able to walk off the gas and blood clots! Does anyone have any idea what they do for someone in my situation?

hi,

i’m not sure ... but clot wise they may give blood thinners to help, it’s a good thing to be asking the surgeon about though if they haven’t discussed it with you already. After one surgery (not wls) i also had inflatable leg cuffs on for several days which you could also query. I hope you can ask about both of the clots and gas, and they can reassure you and help you get through all of this. good luck tomorrow and in recovery

Loved those Leg Pumpers, my calves do tend to ache, at 73 it does happen, but they felt so good while lessening my chances of throwing a clot from inactivity!
