Hi everyone, I went in to see the doctor today for the results of my sleep apnea test all I have to say is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I actually went in expecting to hear that my sleep disorder was very minor and not necessary to treat. Boy was I wrong!!! My report said that I have many episodes of apnea and many disturbances all night long no matter which position I sleep in. My doctor told me that with most people if they get off their back and switch to sides their apnea will improve, not mine! I have to go back and have another study done with the C-pac so they can titrate it.

No wonder I'm exhausted all the time!!!

Also I think tomorrow (Friday) we wil start the referral process to Dr. Trotter, I sure hope I can get in quick and that my insurance won't be a pain in the rear, I would like to do this over spring break hopefully

My weight went up 4lbs since last visit UGGGGGG!

Hope to hear back from someone soon

Heidi:sleep:

Hi Heidi,

Good to hear you are moving right along. Hope to see you at the support group meeting, hopefully the roads will be better next month. Sounds like you are going to get some relief with your sleeping that is great. Keep up the great work.

Ok my next step is to attend the next support group meeting but I think our referral nurse got the date wrong. She told me that the next meeting will be Wednesday, March 6th. This of course is not correct so, is the meeting on Tuesday the 4th, Wednesday the 5th or Thursday the 6th? My husband will be coming with me. So what happens at these meetings? How do you actually get in to your first appintment wit Dr.Trotter? What time does the meeting begin? end?

I was also wondering how the weight loss has been going now that its been awhile since you guys have been banded. How often do you have fills? How do you know when it is time to get a fill? How do you feel after a fill? I have soooo many questions

Write back soon!

Heidi

Heidi,

You are starting to compete with me for questions. Here goes from memory.

The meeting is the second Tuesday of the month, starats at 6 pm at Holy Family Hospital.

If you have most of your stuff done or at least scheduled then call Dr. Trotter office and set up an appointment for your consultation. Have all your paperwork done and take in with you. I was banded the 19th of Dec. Have lost 30 pounds. Had my first fill. Was not to big of a deal for me and am anxious for the second fill on the 3rd of March. So I believe the next meeting is the 11th of March. This truly is a tool to help keep you full so you do not eat as much. Is for sure not a magic cure. I am so glad I did this. Is wonderful.

Anxious to meet you in March.

Deb

When the referral gal at my Drs. office called Dr.Trotters office to see what was needed for me to get scheduled she was told that I needed to go to the support meeting prior to my first visit. Is this true?

Have you been to Dr. Trotters orientation meeting on Wed or Fri. That is where you need to go first to get the list of what needs to be done. The orientation meeting is mandatory, the support meeting is not. However, I would highly recommend going to the support meeting also.

No!!! This was not true for me. In fact I did not go to my first support group meeting until after my surgery, and I went to my nutritionist meeting the day after surgery. Every thing else was done before my first appointment however.

Hope this helps,

Ari

No all you will do at the orientation is learn the difference between the roun Y and Lapand. He explains nutrition, healing, difference in the 2 surgeries, ect. He will not look at any paperwork that you have until your consultation. This is just a class to show you what you are getting into. Very informational.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
