I wish I could say the same!!!! Was supposed to get my fill today and was rescheduled due to Dr. getting stuck in surgery. I tell you I get sooooo tired of this crap all of the time, I bet 80% of my appointments have been rescheduled by his office. I would have waited until he was done, but they didn't have any idea when he would be finished, and then being a friday, he may not even have come back to the office as my appt. was supposed to be at 3:00.

Deb, I came by your office but you were out. See you on Tuesday.

Hi, everyone,

I had my surgery Dec. 20th and so far I'm doing well. I was supposed to have my week post op check today (two weeks after surgery) but it was cancelled and rescheduled for next week. I think I've done the milkshakes enough and am so ready to move on to the mushies.

I plan to be at the meeting at Holy Family on Jan. 8th. What time does it start and where is it?

Kathy

Congrats on the surgery, glad to here you are feeling well. The meeting is on the lower floor at 6pm. Go in the front doors and take the elevator, you will see signs near the elevator. If you would like I could meet you at the elevator.

Thanks so much for the kind offer, but I'm thinking it's in one of the classrooms near the cafeteria, right? I attended an informational meeting in one of the rooms before surgery.

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if you could share with me when you moved up to mushies and then on to regular food. I'm sure it's different for each person but I don't remember Dr. Trotter going over that, although I might have just missed it. Thanks,

Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Did you see a nutritionist before your surgery? Mine was listed in the information that I was given. Full liquids for the first 4 weeks, however this included yoghurt, sf puddings, oatmeal, cream of wheat, cream Soups etc. Dr. Trotter pretty much skips the mushies and goes to regular food, but not until 4 weeks out. I know it is hard but we need to just suck it up and follow the full liquids for the first month. If you want to talk you can e-mail me and I will give you my phone number.

Ari,

I did see the nutritionist at Holy Family but much of the information she gave me was for the Roux-en Y. Just before surgery when Dr. Trotter came by, I said to him that I would be doing the clear liquid diet (following the nutritionist's advice) until I saw him for my first appointment, and he said no, that I should be doing the Protein Shakes (no creamed Soup or yogurt, etc. ) and that's what I've been doing. I'll be so glad to go to the support meeting next Tuesday and also to my first post surgery appointment with Dr. Trotter next Wednesday. I definitely am not planning to do anything that is not following this program - I paid for it myself and I'm determined to make it work.

Thanks so much for you help, Ari. I'm a little under the weather - a cold and very sore throat. I teach at SCC and we started the Winter quarter last week. I talked for 3 solid hours and my poor voice gave out so I'm giving it a rest, hoping I'll be good to go Monday.

Hi everyone!

I was banded in March 2007 in Portland, OR by Dr Dennis Hong, but I just moved to Spokane to start grad school this month. I've been referred by his office to Dr Pennings (?) in Post Falls ID to follow up but I haven't contacted his office yet. Does anyone know anything about him? What do you all think of Dr Trotter? And is the support group you talk about near Spokane?

I've had a great lap band journey so far...I've lost weight at a pretty reasonable rate, have dropped 4 sizes, and haven't had any complications or issues at all. I'm working out and I have more energy than I did in my 20s. I've loved working with all the docs at Oregon Weight Loss Surgery, and am sad that I won't really be able to continue seeing them for the next 2+ years, but I am also looking forward to this next chapter in my life.

It's great to meet you all...:yo:

I think he is a great guy, nice to talk to, doesn't rush you through the appts. more that eager to answer questions and concerns, I am very happy with him. The support group is in N. Spokane at Holy Family Hosptial on the 2nd Tuesday of every month @ 6:00 p.m. It would be great to see you there. The classrooms are downstairs by the cafeteria. We will be there this Tuesday at 6:00 pm there are signs to lead the way. Hope to see you there,

Lisa

Hello, everyone,

I'm so sorry that I won't be able to make the meeting tonight. My voice finally is just about gone and I'm home from work today and probably tomorrow to try and be able to regoup and teach on Thursday. With a little better luck, I'll be at the next one.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
