Hello Everyone,

I've been reading a lot on here, but this is my first time writing. I actually don't see a lot of complications on here which is Wonderful! I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery on April 8th and it's been a nightmare ever since then. It started with a horrible pain on my left side.. I thought maybe it was sore from the large incision, but it continued to get worse. I was actually already back at work at this point.. I'm stubborn. I went to have a CT scan and they direct admitted me to the hospital. Originally they thought it was a leak along with a hematoma and infection. A drain was put in and it was really super painful. After a few days of being there they let me go home. My next appointment was a week later and another CT scan was done... again thought it was a leak. My surgeon put in to have a scope and admit me... again. This time they put a picc line in my arm and have to get my nutrients through TPN and Clear Liquids. This has been going on for about 3 weeks. I also had to go to the ER with my heartrate at 236! And again, admitted me.

I guess the good part of the story is that I didn't have a leak!! I also was able to get my drain removed Last Monday. No weight loss while on TPN so I'm hoping they take it off soon.

Not looking for anyone to feel sorry for me, just sharing my story. Wondering if anyone else had any complications??

Have a good day!

I haven't had any complication since surgery on April 29th, but it looks like you are doing everything correct by notifying your doctors right away. I wish for you smooth sailing from now on.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I had my sleeve back in April 10th .. the only complication I really had was acid reflux.. I mean bad acid reflux.. everything else went great ,, no pain , back to work on 10 days but the heartburn was unbearable at times .. I’ve never eaten so many tums in my life .. I wish you luck and glad to hear things are getting a little better for you

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
