I used to drink nothing but plain Water all the time prior to surgery or even thinking about surgery. I was pretty good about it and most days got up to about a gallon a day. Since the surgery I'm doing nothing but water with flavor packets and one cup of Decaf every day.

I'm not sure if this is a side effect of my surgery about 7 weeks ago or the fact that I started using flavoring packets after surgery and haven't gone back and now I ruined it for myself.

Any thoughts on this subject?

TIA

I don't like drinking Water anymore, either, unless I"m at a restaurant. I drink Crystal Light, Bai water, and those 5-calorie diet cranberry and cranberry-combo "juices", mostly. I think in my case it was the surgery, too, since I used to drink water like crazy, even at home.

Pre-surgery i drank (cold) Water all the time. After surgery it just didn't do it for me, so I played around with the temperature and found that I could drink just as much water as before if it was HOT. Now, almost 7 months later, I like it ice cold again, even more so when I add sliced cucumbers to my water bottle, which makes me drink even more.

Your tastes will change, keep trying different things often.

I liked regular Water a lot more before surgery too, and I used to prefer it cold. Now it hurts my stomach if it's too cold, and I have to add some kind of flavor mix a lot of the time.

Same here - I LOVED plain Water. Only drink zero water now - lemon or orange.

More common than they admit. To me, plain Water tastes bitter, and Heaven help you if you present me with liquids at room temperature, reminds me of being caught in a shower of #1, and that's not a Happy Place to me.

I only drink plain Water when I eat out at restaurants because I'm not supposed to be drinking while eating anyway. At home I drink flavored sugar-free Crystal Light in water.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
