locabecola21 1 Posted May 13, 2019 Hi all...I had gastric bypass surgery on 4/22/19. Everything was going great up until this past Wednesday. Since then it's been non stop diarreah and nausea. I haven't really been able to eat or really drink anything but I'm trying to get as much Gatorade into me as I can. I finally got the lab tests back and I'm told I have a c diff infection. They gave me antibiotics which I'm having a very hard time taking them. I've crushed and cut in pieces and everytime I try and take them I end up gagging and bringing them back up. This is totally unbearable, I so want to feel normal again. Looking to see if anyone else has gone thru this and/or any suggestions on how to get these pills down. Thanks in advance. Tracydawn 19 Posted May 13, 2019 Goodness you really need to get them down. Is there anything you can keep down that you can put them in? Iced coffe (my nut says iced latte with milk is ok) pudding anything that is really yummy...as long as it doesnt hurt to to eat like dumping or cramps you may want to. You are at a stage you can eat most foods as long as they are chewed well. Keep us updated.Sent from my VS986 using BariatricPal mobile app 2 locabecola21 and FluffyChix reacted to this

I don't think if it's Cipro of Fluorquinalones that you can take them with milk or even with Calcium? Sorry you are going through this! C-diff is the infection from Satan's spawn! 2 Tracydawn and locabecola21 reacted to this
Taranurse 1 4 Posted May 13, 2019 Is there a liquid form of antibiotics? I am so sorry you are going through this. This surgery was much harder than I expected! I am day 14 and am finally feeling better. Best of luck to you ❤️ 2 1 locabecola21, FluffyChix and toodlerue reacted to this
locabecola21 1 Posted May 14, 2019 Unfortunately there's no liquid antibiotic that I can take for it. They switched the antibiotic to vancomycin which is a capsule and so much easier to take. I'm still feeling horrible but the fact that I was able to get the medicine in gives me hope. DeanaNJ 25 Posted May 14, 2019 My friend who is a nurse told me to crush pills as fine as possible. Put in a shot glass. Add hot liquid, I use tea, to dissolve. Use as little liquid as possible. Pour orange or pineapple juice in shot glass. Down it like a shot! If there is residue just pour more juice in to get it all. This works for me. Hope it helps! 2 Lamermaid and locabecola21 reacted to this
Frustr8 7,886 Posted May 15, 2019 Sounds like a perfect plan, I like the dissolving in hot Water part, the thing I hated , besides the sheer time-waste grinding and grinding more, was the sheer pettiness of everything, especially my multi-bite. And I had do it twice a day, was SO happy I could back to my once-daily prenatal one. Just 1 and you're done, other people have opted for Patches just to avoid Gritty City meds. 1 locabecola21 reacted to this
