JanJan19 205 Posted June 4, 2019 How is everyone in the May group doing??? I'm 12 days post op & struggling with getting Protein in. I'm doing great on getting 65oz of Water, but protein I seem to end up with around 40. Whomp whomp. I keep telling myself it'll be easier to up that number when I can add beef & chicken to my diet. I am also struggling with protein but the shakes help. I am finishing my fourth week post-op, so I have been doing some experimenting to see what I can handle. Last night I was able to eat 1/2 cup of sloppy joe mix (no bun) with no adverse affect. Try Protein Shakes if you’re not already.

Your Fluid intake is great! I myself am struggling with fluids but nailing protein. I drink two Premier Protein shakes so that's 60g of protein but even with including the 22oz of protein fluids I still cant get the 64oz. As excited as I am to eat something different I'm worried about starting pureed foods, because I feel like it'll be harder to drink the 64oz due to the whole not drinking while eating. For Breakfast now i have 3oz of thinned cream of wheat and it takes me forever to finish it, and by the time I'm good to drink fluids I have to start my Protein Shakes. I’m 15 days post-op and had an emergency that has lead us to leave the country we were living in (Peru). I had to change my diet to more of a typical US post-op diet and I am tolerating things really well. I’m getting my protein but struggling with my Water. I got my first post-op period yesterday and it’s causing me pain that is close to landing me in the ER.
Krestel 330 Posted June 5, 2019 Ah, the protein...Im still working on that one. On the other hand, I seem to have a pouch of steel. Nothing really seems to bother me and Ive already eaten soft-boiled eggs, soft bread, and cottage cheese. The only food problem I had was in the hospital when I experienced my first dumping. The morning after the surgery, the nurse gave me juice that I had asked for her to Water down. She had totally forgotten to water it down and voila! I got my first taste of a mild dump. As for water, I have been getting in quite a bit. I have a lemon-lime Protein water that is sickeningly sweet when drank by itself but when water down tastes like lemonade. It's wonderful. Ive also tried water down prune juice and love that as well. So other than protein, Im well on my way. Thank gawd that the gas pains in my shoulder are done with. I could kill my surgical team for not warning me about that. (I though the gas would be bloating in my stomach and not that my diaphram would kill me instead.) lyladyp 120 Posted July 2, 2019 I just wanted to check in and see how all of the May 2019 people are progressing. Personally, it has been a couple of weeks of ups and downs. I am struggling to stay consistent with my eating patterns. Some days I feel famished, other days I do not have a taste for anything. My main goal moving forward is to maintain an actual exercise scheduled. What about you all?

Exercising has been a challenge since my kids are demanding. Lol Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
Krestel 330 Posted July 3, 2019 I feel the same way as you all. Still trying to figure out/relearn how to eat again. Not really back on normal normal foods yet. Ive still been sticking mainly to softer foods but that's more due to the fact that I really like yoghurt and watermelon. Ive been surprised how well my pouch has reacted and wonder if the surgeon didnt make it bigger than normal since im alrealy able to eat about less than a cup of food. (Although I keep it under a half a cup most times.) Dunno though. My first follow up is on Monday. The gas pains in my shoulder during the first 10 days after surgery was something I never want to feel again. I realize that laproscopic surgery is much safer etc, but that side effect is HORRIBLE!
