I’m trying to mentally prepare myself For me it wasn’t ACTUALLY painful per se, but it felt like a lot of pressure in my abdomen, right behind my lower sternum. Like I really needed to burp super hard but just couldn’t get it out. It’s a discomfort combination like when you’ve eaten way too much crossed with really needing to burp. Is there a lot of medicine youll take when you get back home? And will you have to purchase medicine from them if you run out?

And will you have to purchase medicine from them if you run out?I was sent home with Omeprazole (GERD meds), Oxycodone for moderate to severe pain (I have taken 2 in a week and tbh they were as much due to Migraines as it was surgery pain), Prochlorperazine (anti-nausea), and told to avoid Ibuprofen, Aleve, Motrin, Advil, etc but that Tylenol in reasonable doses and intervals would be okay. Best way to get rid of the gas is to walk. Walk to the mailbox, walk around the house, etc. I had a challenge after surgery staying awake to keep my Fluid intake up (in the hospital). The next day I had to make more of an effort but I was able to and was discharged about 3 PM from a 10:30 procedure the day before.

Ryster_1979 8 Posted May 17, 2019 Has anyone else experienced a change in their voice post surgery? I also had a hiatal hernia repair (stomach pushing into diaphragm), but the day after surgery my voice was a little raspy and quiet like a cold, and a week later it is still the same. 1 daisy7914 reacted to this

I also had a sore throat. I believe it is from the intubation tube used during the surgery. They told me to gargle with warm Water and salt. Ruby Hernandez 106 Posted May 17, 2019 Hello Everyone! Surgery was a success, and I am feeling fine, but never did I expect for my phone to make me so dizzy after surgery. My voice is so rhaspy and my face is so droopy, anyone else feel the same after surgery? Also, sorry for the inactivity. I’ve just been sleeping and drinking... sleeping and drinking. 💤 3 Ryster_1979, CNDC and MrsGamgee reacted to this

I just had my surgery yesterday and, I’m not gonna lie, the first 9 hours after waking up were so painful and uncomfortable. However, it gets so much easier after that. I am feeling amazing today! I am positive that all will go well for you! Best of luck! I will pray for you! 😊 Hello, I did it and am now home recovering. I agree the first day was absolutely uncomfortable and I felt as if the nurses were trying to hold out on giving me pain medication! They were okay giving me blood thinner, medicine for nausea, but pain medicine was an afterthought. Otherwise, everything else went fine. I thought I was going to have to stay another night due to low magnesium but was given an IV and the okay to go home. I was not expecting to feel this uncomfortable, but I am happy that I took off 2 weeks from work because I was not sure that I would need it. I now realize that everything related to this surgery (from beginning to the end) is a very slow process and you cannot rush anything. Thanks for your positive words and best wishes to you as you progress!👍🏽 🙂 2 Ohcinders and Vavoon_1020 reacted to this
Krestel 330 Posted May 18, 2019 GAWD! I am into the second week of the shake only diet and it is KILLING ME! (Surgery on the 27th.) It's not that Im not satisfied with the shakes or anything, but I want variety. (Although I admit I've snuck in a banana or two, but have journaled it and made sure Im under 800 calories.) I did a soft diet of starting May 1st of under 1000 calories with 2 shakes and then a small meal of chicken and veg. I think that I could have done for a long time without any big problems, but as soon as it was ONLY shakes, I've gone bonkers! Even head hunger has started to rear it's ugly head. I wonder if it's the lack of choice that is killing me or something else...

[emoji99]I'm on the loser's bench now too. First night/day was a challenge with pain, but mostly my fault because I didn't want to take the morphine. Now I'm on tram-something and it's much better. I think I'm being discharged later today. Hiccups are a new and exquisite torture. Mafi Mushkila 29 Posted May 18, 2019 Just completed my surgery on the 15th of May along with a Hiatal hernia repair and the first 16 hours was a bit rough but I must say, getting up and walking as they reccomended really helped. I am 2 days out of surgery now and feel like a million bucks! I have no pain, no nausea nothing! I pushed myself very hard during the Preop diet and excercised like a mad man and I really think this helped. My wonderful wife has been a really great partner in this success story. 7 Teri B, CNDC, Vavoon_1020 and 4 others reacted to this

Vavoon_1020 19 Posted May 18, 2019 Day by day I'm felling much better. But for some reason I'm thinking maybe they have mistakenly removed my whole stomach, cause it can't hold anything really. I just looked at the shakes, chicken broth or cottage cheese and I'm full. Bella0630 16 Posted May 19, 2019 Had my surgery the 8th of this month and almost down 30lbs from my highest weight. I feel good but a little tired and sometimes need a nap. I know this will change once I get into stage 2 and can actually munch on real food. 3 daisy7914, CNDC and Ohcinders reacted to this
