I look forward to not worrying whether or not I'll break someones toilet seat when I visit their restroom. What ever would I say to them? Honestly, the fear is real! I've done it twice but luckily, I was at home both times.

Ohhh Tamarita! I have broken so many toilet seats in my home! I haven't thought to worry about doing it in public yet!

Ok the things I am most looking forward to after surgery:

1: Being able to bend down to tie my shoes and not feel like my breathing has been cut completely off and I'm about to pass out.

2. Being okay with my picture being taken.

3. Being able to climb that sand dune with my sister and not stop.

4. I'm looking forward to walking with my dog everywhere and be able to breathe.

5. Riding a bike again.

6. Wearing my hot high heels 👠 and dressing sexy again.

7. Working out with my husband in the gym.

8. Being healthy and happy with myself.

Enjoyed reading through this thread tonight. My surgery is Monday, and having some anxiety and of course the "oh no I'm losing my best friend, food" thoughts. A list is a great idea. In no particular order:

1. Walking with my husband and dog; climbing hills, crunching across snowy fields in the winter, enjoying really long meanders in the woods;

2. Boots. Not the booties I content myself and my too fat ankles and calves with, but real knee high winter boots. Maybe, just maybe, even tucking pants into said boots!

3. Dancing at weddings and not secretly worrying I look like John Travolta in Hairspray.

4. Not sweating out whether it is a "generous" or a "stingy" booth they are trying to seat me in.

5. Less pain in my knees, and not having to walk down a flight of stairs like a toddler!

6. Being able to walk up 2 flights of stairs without huffing and puffing.

7. Clothes. That I like.

8. Not feeling uncomfortable and self conscious for my neighbor on airplanes, at the theater, or at a baseball stadium (grrr, Fenway!)

This was a great "reset" for my brain tonight.

This has been a great thread to read and as I pondered on it yesterday, I started to make my own list

- to not have those OMG looks please don't sit next to me every time I board an aircraft

- to be able to cut my own toenails again

- to be able to do chores in and around my home without having to take breaks every five minutes

- to not have to look for armless chairs everywhere I go

- to be content enough to actually have my picture taken

- to fit into an airline's bathroom! Seriously, have you seen the closet-size of the things these days?

- to not have to go down stairs like a baby, always worried I'm going to fall if I don't

- there's the entire clothes thing which could take up another dozen things I'm looking forward to

- to be able to fit into a pew at church

- to have a lap again so that I can hold my grandchildren

- to not obsess over the next meal; I'm already learning this, but I look forward to when I don't think about it at all

- to be able to walk down a hallway without it sounding like an elephant is walking

- to have my family not look at me with pity and disgust; I want them to see me not my weight

- to not be the heaviest person everywhere I go

- to just be happy within my own skin

I know there will be more and more to add to this list as I continue this journey. I cannot wait to see what I will accomplish and see everyone realize that I CAN do it.

- To not huff and puff going up one flight of stairs.

- To just have more energy!!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
