Recommended Posts

I posted that "2007 " report because my cousin whom I had a group chat n chew dinner last night with some people who have had this surgery gathered and by the way I had to pick her up cause she did not : 'remember " where I lived as many times she has been to my house this is 2019 and she had the sleeve 18 months ago so this is real , she didn't know who my aunt(her mother) the "kids" in the house( her nieces and nephews) the conductor on the train she takes to work she didn't even remember she wanted to break up with her boyfriend it was her best friend who told her when he broke up with her "girl you was gonna break up with him anyway but just did not know how....So no don't down play this cause the article is "old" she thew up a lot when she got sleeved and went back to the ER .its only to say if you have or do throw up a lot at the beginning look into it to make sure your Vitamin B12 as well as others are not immediately rendered powerless and the brain is not defiecient which is was causes the memory loss...… My aunt and brothers took her to the hospital and this is what "They " said she didn't even remember she had surgery and one morning after looking in the mirror was terrified and asked her mother was she sick and dying because she lost so much weight . she had to be reminded so its real ... but hey im having my surgery November the 11th and this is in no way meant to be a scare tactic or deterent its just facts I was trying to pass on to my family here
God Bless
Thanks for sharing & sorry to hear about your cousin smh must be tough for her. I like to see the good the bad and the ugly with wls & life itself.

I'm wondering if all of you have some weird things that you are looking forward to after surgery?
I have a few:

  • Being able to eat cheese again (without feelnbg guilty) and feeling full from it
  • Being able to look forward to only tasting a (tiny) bit of everything instead of eating lots of the first thing I like.
  • Drinking milk again
Well, they may not be all that weird, but they do seem odd in a positive way. What about you guys?
My 4 things are getting back to work the gym and fitting back into my skinny jeans and being able to have an adult beverage

Riding roller coasters, not worrying about fitting in the seats on air planes, & shopping for clothes in the misses section of Kohl’s, Macy’s, etc. Also, being able to walk up a flight of stairs without feeling winded.

Thank you for sharing this . It could be very helpful by alerting people to the damage that B12 deficiency could cause . I read that it can cause extreme tiredness lethargy and nausea , and It’s easily missed , as people are eating such a small amount of calories , and often just put it down to that , and the surgery they’ve not long had .

and if others are aware of the symptoms , it could explain a lot to some people who are really struggling, and could point them in the right direction, to get it checked out .

A little over one month till my surgery. Just couple things I’m looking forward to.
Wearing lingerie (at least matching bra and panties)
Easier time wiping my butt. Anyone else have that struggle??
Wearing a non skirt bathing suit.
Confidence
Shop in non plus size sections.

Not sure if mine are weird...but:

1. Being able to wear shorts and skirts in the summer and to not feel like I am a complete lard failure if I throw on a tank top.

2. To run a 5k - looking to sign up for one in the fall for motivation and to reach this goal.

3. To be happy with who I am - this weight is the only thing about myself that I truly hate.

4. To make my husband proud of me...don’t get me wrong he is freaking awesome, has never ONCE treated me badly or made me feel like I am less than great because of my weight. Just want to be able to go out in public and not think in the back of my mind how I would be embarrassed to be seen with me. It’s a weird psychological thing.

5. To be able to fit in seats and not feel like I’m squishing the person next to me.

I feel the same way with the husband thing. He's never said anything bad about my weight, and is always super supportive, but I can't help but feel like an embarrassment. I have even asked him not to introduce me to people he knows that we run into on the street. Hopefully, that will change soon! I know it's silly, but I can't wait until I feel like the cute one in the relationship for a change!

Good luck on your journey!

Ride on every amusement park ride with my son and husband! Not being afraid to have to buy two plane tickets. Not making a giant “dent” in my new expensive mattress and everyone falling into it!! The list goes on and on!! Lol

I imagine that all of our NSVs would be considered 'weird' to those who are already in-shape. 🤭 Nevertheless, here are some weird things that I am looking forward to:

  • Being able to cross my legs femininely.
  • Being able to shop at a store that doesn't carry plus size clothing.
  • Being able to feel confident about myself/body in front of people who aren't family or close friends.
  • Being able to sleep without my CPAP machine (cya later, sleep apnea)!
  • Being able to walk through IKEA (or even stand long enough to do the dishes) without needing a break.
  • Being able to wrap a normal sized towel around my body.
  • Being able to conceive and have a healthy full-term pregnancy.
  • Being able to be more active and have more fun with my stepchildren.

I am sure there are a ton more NSVs that I can't wait to achieve, though!

I just experienced being able to fall asleep on the couch with enough space that my 100 lb labrador could comfortably stretch out there and fall asleep as well! I never even expected that...

Weird? Hmm.. I’m looking forward to a lot of things ... Weirdly enough, I want to jump in my husbands arms and be able to wrap my legs around his waist .. sounds silly but when he picks me up, my legs just dangle. That’s not sexy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
