I am in ketosis by virtue of my bariatric diet (and confirmed via labwork). I ordered some exogenous ketone supplements. Are they going to "boost" the fat-burning or are they just bull? They were only 12 bucks so *shrug*

I certainly wouldn't count on it. The ketosis thing is just the latest fad in the diet business - if it actually worked, we would have been doing it all along (they like to say that this has been "known" for 70-100 years - if it really worked, why would they have stopped doing it and gone on to other diets?) All the ketosis means is that you are burning fat from somewhere - either from your stored fat or from you diet. One can be in ketosis and not lose any weight if one eats to much, so it is not an indicator that you are doing what you want to do - burn your fat stores. I was "in ketosis" as I was losing, as indicated by my lab tests, but I was no where near a "ketogenic" diet - typically more on the order of 100-120 g of carbohydrates per day, but I was still burning my stored fat because I was in a caloric deficit (eating less than I was burning) which is ultimately what it takes.

Put this stuff on the same shelf (or bin) as the all of the miracle metabolism boosting potions.

Forums are just anecdotal evidence at best for all questions, we can only give our own experiences not based in hard science. We are all individuals and what works for one person won't necessarily work for another. There is no magic formula, stop looking for one, keep track of what works for your body long term, and that changes over time. In the beginning virtually any type of major deficit will cause weight loss regardless of type of consumption. Again you have to figure out what works for your body. Good luck.

I take a whole bunch of rando supplements touted to do this or that. I have no clue if any of them have factored into my weight loss. My trainer is big on those sorts of things. Not "diet pills", but things like CLA, arginine, inosine, etc. I read some article about the exogenous ketones because they were featured on Shark Tank and they were cheap so I was like whatever sure. lol. I am around 50g of carbs a day and 800 calories. I'm sure I am losing by virtue of that alone, but I guess any placebo mental boost can help, right? lol. Will keep you all posted... they arrive today. If I notice any crazy drastic drop or anything, that'll be my indicator.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
