suturing band in position????

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to be banded early in the New Year-I have seen the surgeon here in Dublin and he showed me the band he will use.It is silicone and has little"wings"which he can suture in position on the stomach. He was very reasssuring in every way and has never had a slippage with this band which he designed himself and has made in Switzerland.Hes new to Ireland so I can't find anyone who has had the op a year ago as hes from Poland.Just wondering if any other surgeon out there SUTURES the band-it seems like an obvious way to stop it slipping but does it have other side effects??comments appreciatedx

my band i will be getting doesn't have "wings" but it will be sutured in place. it def helps with slipping, especially because of all the swelling at first. i hope to be banded right after the new year too....good luck!

From what I can tell, ALL bands are sutured in place to hold them on the stomach. The healing period right after surgery is most important because that is when the scar tissue from this is forming and settling the band in place.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
