Wow I’m glad to hear you’re not having a lot of pain. I have surgery May 20 and I’m scared to death it’s going to be painful. My doctor said because of the opioid crisis they can’t prescribe the usual pain medication. I’ve definitely been worried about this.

Since Im self pay they plan on letting me go home same day as surgery unless there’s a problem.

I hope things continue to go smoothly for you. I’ll look for updates.

I'm on May 23rd & I'm really worried about the gas pain. I feel like I can handle the pain from the incisions, but all the gas buildup in your chest sounds awful.

The pain is temporary and short lived! Just think about that new lease on life

For anyone that has had surgery!! My sleeve surgery is May 30th, how often did you walk at the hospital and when you got home?

I walked 3 times on surgery day, the next day I walked 4 times and was discharged on that day. I walked 20 minutes this morning on the treadmill at home.. Surgery was 5/13/2019 hope this helps

The pain is temporary - but don't discount it! I was not mentally prepared for the incision pain. I walked all my gas out before leaving the hospital but that incision pain is no joke! You use your core for everything and they just sliced through all the layers of it and yanked out your stomach!

Just be prepared. I was fortunate enough to get 10 days of liquid hydrocodone. After that adult liquid Tylenol worked well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
