Hi

You are going 2 days before me. I am going to be banded on 11/21 in Hartford Connecticut. My insurance required 6 months of nutrition counseling so I have been preparing for this day for a very long time. Anyway, good luck....I will anixously waiting a reply; let me know how it goes. Are you nervous?

Yep-

I'm a little nervous but so ready to have my life back! The nutrition counseling was a GREAT idea and losing 58 pounds is wonderful! Good for you!! My doctor said any weight lost makes it a lot easier on the patient and the doctor. I've been on a liquid diet getting ready for the surgery-my doc said he wanted me to get my body kind of ready for the diet. It hasn't been as bad as I thought. I wish you all the luck on Wednesday and I'll be thinking about you and saying a prayer for you. Keep in touch and I'm glad you wrote-it will be nice to go through this with someone. Thanks very much.

Lisa

Hi Bob-

I know you're in the hospital right now but wanted to let you know I got out yesterday. The surgery went fine and I'm doing great and hope you are too! I feel really good-just a little gassy but tolerating my liquids and yogurt well. I'm a little sore at my port site but not anywhere else at all-I was anticipating much worse I must admit. I hope to get to tal with you this weekend so I'll know you're ok. Please write when you can and God bless ya-you're in my prayers!!

Hi Lisa

I am gald to here everything went well and you are home and doing well.

I am home too. I came home about noon today. Like yourself I am a little sore and some gas. I have been mostly on crystal light and sugar free popsicles. I did not sleep well in the hospital. There is just too much going on there. But I slept alot this afternoon. My surgery also went well. My doc said it turned out to be a very good one. Still, I am worried about something moving in there that should not move. I suppose with time we can be more confident that it won't move.

Take care, hope to hear from you soon.

Lisa806...good luck....trust us...its not that bad!

Hi there...I would love to keep in touch with you. I was banded on 11/20 and a little confused about how I should be feeling now. Don't know if I am sore or full. I do know that my cravings are not gone. I dont want to get discouraged. Lets keep each other motivated.

Hi-

I'm really doing ok. I thought this would be much worse but the pain is not bad and I haven't vomited at all. I've done exactly what I was told to and I've been fine. Had some gas a couple of days but that's gone now too. I have to say the post op so far is not unbearable and early Tuesday they got me on the scale and 15 pounds was gone but I was on liquids 3 days before going in too...still not too bad. I wish you the best of luck-I'm sure you'll do great! Hang in and get back in touch and let me know how you're doing!

Bob-

I am so glad to hear from you! I'm glad you're doing well-I knew you would! I didn't sleep in the hospital either and the care left a lot to be desired-they really didbn't know what to do with me but I got home and got a shower (which was WONDERFUL) and slept like a baby. I've been on Protein Drinks, lots of Water, had some chicken broth last night and some Jello. I even tried some yogurt and did great with that. I've been making the effort to get all my Protein in. I'm really not too sore except where the port is but the doc told me that would be more sore than anything. So, that's it in a nutshell my friend. I'm glad you wrote and I'm glad you're doing well. Keep in touch and hang in there! I'll talk to you soon.

Hi Lisa and others

I am day 2 after surgery. No vomitting. Still sore. My blood sugar is down to 78. My nutritionist calls that hypoglycemic. Since there is nothing with sugar or carbs in my first week of diet, I am not sure how to get it up where it belongs (90-100). Does anybody else have this problem? Im thinking a small amount of apple juice might help. I will call the nutrionist today.

But those worried about the pain..worry not....it is not that bad. Mine is mostly sore and mostly when first moving such as getting out of bed or out of a chair. The doc perscribed Lortab liquid (hyrocodone and tylenol) which works good for the soreness.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
