i had insurance to cover my surgery but it took me 15 months from the time i did the on-line seminar until i had surgery. i had alot of medical issues going on so not only did i have to have the psy eval and see the dietician but had to see primary care doc for 6 months in a row plus i had to have a cardiac clearance, echo, stress test, have a pulmonary clearance, be put on a c-pap plus a ton of blood work. even when my insurance approved the surgery i had a 2 month wait with the surgeon because he was so busy but it was definitely worth the wait.

It took about 7 months for me, but my surgical team’s requirements are pretty rigorous compared to many other programs. When I first started I was impatient, but I would say that now I’m grateful that I had so much time with a dietician, working on behavioral changes, etc. prior to surgery. I feel a lot more prepared and comfortable for the long term.

I am also going through insurance. Mine will be about 4 months from the date of my first informational meeting to surgery. Much quicker than I initially thought it would be. Good luck!

It took me about 3.5 months to get a surgery date, and I will have surgery just shy of 4 months after my initial consultation with my surgeon (January 30 to May 23)

I think it varies with/without insurance and by your state. For example, I am in Maryland and my insurance/state requires at least 6 months of documented weight management doctors visits and like a host of pre-check screenings (ekg, cardiogram, labs, seminars, mental counseling). I think this differs state to state and insurance to insurance. I just started but she told me that before we talk dates that we would see each other 6 times. Good luck on your journey.

I went the seminar at Ohio State on March 10th 2018, received my Surgery Date July 17th 2018,my actual Surgery Date was September 5th 2018, so a little less than 6 months from first contact to Actual Surgery Date.👼👍😛❤

Let's see, from first informational seminar to surgery date... just under 3 months, March 9th to surgery on June 4th. I'm in IL and have BCBS. It was kind of a whirlwind.

First appointment was March 8th. Surgery is tomorrow. Mine required 2 weeks of no carbs, one day of liquids pre-op. Mine is approved by insurance.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
