Feeling like this didn’t work....

I'm so happy I found this discussion because I feel like I'm going through the same thing and worried that my gastric bypass isn't really working.

My eating *is* restricted though I'm not suffering from nausea/vomiting/dumping, but I'm worried that I'm still getting too many calories every day. I've gone from 200 calories a day all the way up to almost 800! My nutritionist didn't give me a daily calorie range to shoot for--- she just told me 80 grams of Protein, no more than about 30 grams of carbs a day (not counting the milk in Protein shakes), and less than 5 grams of surgery per serving...... and I'm worried that I'm stretching my pouch!!!

I had my post-op 2 week visit with my surgeon this past Friday. I talked to him about the calories and being afraid I’m stretching out my pouch and being hungry a lot. He reminded me it was crucial to do the 30/30 rule with drinking and eating which I admit I wasn’t doing well. Since Friday though I have been setting timers and I have noticed a difference. He also said I shouldn’t go too much 700 calories a day for now. And lastly I asked about stretching out my pouch and he said it’s pretty hard to do which made me feel better.

More Soup in the Crock pot today, that's what I handle best, I know Roy my dietician is hoping i'll move on to more grown-up levels, but after the calamities I have endured emulating someone else, it just may not happen yet. Trying to be someone else is demeaning to me, I too have my place in the Universe. I was not created to be average--'I AM AWESOME in my own right!

You’re awesome in general and I prefer my Soups right now as well!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
