gabybab 696 Posted May 3, 2019 (edited) So, I've developed gout from the high Protein diet. The provider came to my home and diagnosed me. She prescribed me prednisone because my toe is all swollen. Took half a pill at noon and dinner bs was 228. My foot feels way better, but I have neuropathy and now my feet are burning. To take the steroids or stop? I think stop. I can deal with the pain and try and eat a low purine diet. Anyone else deal with these things due to surgery? Losingit2018 1,170 Posted May 3, 2019 So sorry that you are dealing with gout. It is highly unlikely that a high Protein diet or your surgery is to blame though. Obesity, sugar and metabolic syndrome are often the culprits. Here is a little info that I was able to find quickly. Hope it helps. https://www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/side-effects/gout 1 gabybab reacted to this
FluffyChix 17,415 Posted May 3, 2019 Dang! Drop the prednisone. Reduce your Protein. What did she say to do with the protein? I'd eat no red meats or cheese for a while. Ditch the carbs. Stop any Protein Drinks and get your protein from foods. Sorry you are dealing with this. 1 gabybab reacted to this
