Excessive regain?

Recommended Posts

I had gastric sleeve on April 29, 2013. In September 2015, I gave birth to a very premature baby boy, who lived in the NICU for 6 months before he passed away.

During that 6 months, I didn’t eat. I drank so much coffee, and I had 1 sugar in each coffee. As you can imagine, I gained.

I found out I was pregnant again 8 weeks after my son passed away.

During that year and a half I gained back about 70 pounds. I have been trying to get back on track, but I can’t do it. My head just isn’t in the game anymore so to say.

Yes, I still have 100lbs off, but I want to be where I once was.

Has anyone else been in the same situation and got back on track?

Reach out to. a Bariatric consultant, I think perhaps will help you get more of your motivation back. So sorry about your son, losing a child is one of the hardest things to live through

I think going to a counselor of some kind could be greatly beneficial to you. Both to address your grief and any possible eating disorders you might have. I'm so sorry for the loss of your son.

I'm so sorry about your son. I can't imagine your pain. I think you really need to work with a counselor to sort out your feelings. None of these surgeries work if your head isn't in the game. Please check in and let us know how you're doing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
