My surgery is a little over two weeks away. I've been on a hybrid liquid diet since April 1. Phase 2 of my liquid diet starts Thursday (5-6 glucerna shakes and 200 cals of veggies per day). Hopefully it will knock out the last three pounds I need to lose before surgery.

I need to get active again... I want at least 12000 steps a day between now and surgery.

I've also been prepping for my family, cooking freezer meals for the first couple of weeks post op when I know I won't want to be in the kitchen at all. This Friday I'm going to hit up a couple of health food stores for some samples of Protein powders to try before I commit to stocking up on something in particular.

Good luck to us all...

hello! I converted from lapband to bypass on May 1 (single stage). Spent two nights in hospital. First day was rough due to nausea. But have had very little pain except when I stand up or sit down the larger insision where the port was removed hurts momentarily.

I didn’t use any of the narcotic in the pain pump and haven’t even had a Tylenol!

I am able to drink my liquids and walk. Although I do get tired pretty quickly!

But I hope all your surgeries go as smoothly!

Stella thanks for sharing your experience with the bypass surgery. I'm waiting for approval from my insurance companies for the RNY revision after 2 1/2 years post OP for sleeve.
I am absolutely miserable and hope that once approved by my insurance companies that I can have surgery soon.
Hopefully mine will be as easy as my sleeve surgery was.
Good luck

I'm day 5 of my pre-op diet and miserable. Hungry (water, sugar-free Gelatin, unsalted chicken broth, runny oatleal and proten shakes -_-) and headaches.

May 15th feels so far away (i'm going for the gastric bypass).

Finally on the other side! Surgery was yesterday and I’m feeling great! The gas was horrible but then I vomited so that took care of most of it. When I went for my x Ray the dye was taking too long to pass through my new stomach. They said it’s because I was so swollen but I’m scared that something is wrong and they’re gonna have to go back in. We’ll see tomorrow morning! Bring on the new life!!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
