Duffman 3 Posted April 30, 2019 Hi, Tomorrow is 2 weeks post-surgery. I’m on the puréed diet and... I’m struggling. I am REALLY hungry today. I keep reading about people who don’t crave things anymore or get full after a few bites. I’m just feel so unsatisfied, like I still have a bottomless stomach. I keep thinking about all the things I’ll never eat again. I knew what I was getting into, and I felt full and uninterested in food for the first week. It was great but today I’ve just felt so hungry and I’m scared that I’ve screwed up and stretched out my pouch already. I don’t know, is this at all normal to feel after surgery? Almost like a buyers remorse? Maybe today is just an off day? 1 Frustr8 reacted to this
gabybab 696 Posted April 30, 2019 Yes, I had buyers remorse the 3rd day. I couldnt stop crying. It hurt so bad to just drink Water and I was in so much pain. It gets way better, I promise! I've had bumps in the road and went to the ER 2 times. I feel loads better! Best wishes! 2 Purpledva and Frustr8 reacted to this
LoLo130 11 Posted April 30, 2019 I don’t think it is is buyer’s remorse, we know it will all be okay in the end, but there are days we struggle. Today was one of those days for me, and I’m only a week post-op. It truly is a lifestyle change and we can’t change everything overnight. The recovery stage is the hardest because your diet is so boring (if I have to drink more chicken broth my head will explode). Best of luck!! GradyCat 3,695 Posted April 30, 2019 I think the "head hunger" is a bigger struggle than real food hunger and it takes a while to adapt. 4 BlueIGT, allies journey, sillykitty and 1 other reacted to this
MikeIL 49 Posted April 30, 2019 13 hours ago, Duffman said: I’m scared that I’ve screwed up and stretched out my pouch already. Common thought, but drop it from your thinking. Your pouch isn't going to stretch out right now. That takes time. You have other things to think about so don't waste your time with this worry. Use this time get to know your new stomach. Few things to try: Every time you think to yourself "hungry" switch it with the word "thirsty" and take a sip of Water. Get some liquid in your mouth and down that throat. Flavor your water. Brighten up your taste buds' day. Switch it up so you have something different and tasty in your routine. 2 1 FluffySaysForkIt!, Christmas424 and allies journey reacted to this
Duffman 3 Posted April 30, 2019 Thanks everyone. Today has been a much better day. I realize I pushed way too far between meals yesterday (had to volunteer and go to my daughter’s softball game) so i i didn’t get home to have dinner until like 8:30. So that was definitely a contributing, in hindsight.

bariutiful 72 Posted May 2, 2019 Try and purée an egg that will get you full .. it’s normal to feel all different types of emotions .. don’t ever think about what you won’t ever be able to eat again .. you will be able to but it’s better to stay away from many foods or at least in moderation .. but honestly you start getting used to the clean eating and you start liking different healthy things you would think you never did .. like I never used to like fruit I would rather always have junk food and now I loooooove fruit and crave it all the type and junk food I rarely crave it anymore and when I do then i just make myself remember how unhealthy and horrible it used to make me feel when I would eat it .. I did struggle in the beginning emotionally, but don’t worry it really does get better!! You got this!!!!
allies journey 144 Posted May 4, 2019 Is this after sleeve surgery or RNY?? I have had sleeve in October 2016 no real issues with anything for the first 6 wks and then the reflux was back way worse than when I had sleeve done. 2 1/2 years later and I am waiting for approval from my insurance companies for the RNY. My gastrointestinal doctor just did EGD with the Bravo test for documentation as to how bad it is for the insurance companies. But he thinks that I now have Barrettes Esophagus. Hopefully surgery will be approved and a surgery date will be set up soon. Allie in SC Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app
Tracydawn 19 Posted May 7, 2019 Have you tried to eat something tastey? (My nut said 14-21 days blended) I had pureed Beans ( homade) with a tiny bit of lite sour cream and cheese grated super fine. It was so pretty and in a beautiful dish. I have special tiny silverware. I really think being able to have my beans has really helped. It's the one food that has a lot of flavor for me that I can really enjoy. Perhaps there is something for you. I am 4 wks post up bypass. FluffyChix 17,415 Posted May 8, 2019 It's super important that you don't try to chase that full feeling you used to have. It won't come again like that. You will eventually feel restriction, but it might take 3-4 months. Same thing here. I do have a larger capacity pouch. So it is very important that I weigh and measure every meal and ONLY eat to the prescription for where I am in recovery. At your time, it was a 1/4cup limit. Volume is KING!! From now on. Volume is King! I am now at my stage at 1 cup limit for life. So I literally measure my meal in a measuring cup. I place it on the scale and I weigh 3 oz of Protein into it and whatever is left over gets filled with al dente veggies and healthy fats. Eat slow. No Water 15 minutes before and try for 1 hour after. And walk away. No seconds! No going back for at least 2 hours and later on, for 3 hours. Right now if you have a 1/4cup limit, you might be legit eating every 2 hours. But as you get more volume per meal and more protein in per meal, then you will be able to go 3-6 hours between meals. All you should be eating with a 1/4c volume limit at 6 weeks is solid Proteins (or proteins at whatever level you're at). That's about 1-2oz of protein by weight and about 7-10g by protein content. 2 FluffySaysForkIt! and Emilia DD reacted to this

Pakko 76 Posted May 12, 2019 Well at my point of view, and what had me crazy those first weeks was that i needed to learn the difference between hunger and HEAD HUNGER, your body is changing and just fot the procedure you shouldn't be hungry, ask yourself am i reslly hungry or its just my brain that is used to a larger meal, also you will be able to eat in NORMAL CONSISTENCE, BUT IN LESS AMOUNT AND WITH BETTER QUALITY. What im tryint to say is give it a little time itll get better. Sent from my VOG-L04 using BariatricPal mobile app
