I don't know if it's normal or not, but mine was supposed to start on the day of surgery (4/4) and here I am, still waiting.

I had finished mine about a week prior to surgery, but when I woke up from surgery I had it again. The following month I was 4 days late and a week after that one was done, I spotted for over a week. The next month was a normal 28 day but this month I am 2 days early. I think it affects our periods one way or another and eventually it should level itself out. But if you are concerned you can always call your dr for peace of mind.

I was post-menopausal when I had my surgery, so no direct experience here, but that's pretty common. The way I've heard it explained is that fat cells carry estrogen, so once you start losing a bunch of weight, you get hormone floods, which messes with your system. It should straighten itself out within a few months (I'm guessing due to the weight loss eventually slowing down).

Mine came the day after surgery, a week early. I was less than thrilled.

I started spotting a week after surgery then it stopped. Now I’m spotting again. I don’t usually have periods without medication so I’m hoping this is the start of something good.

Oh man. I'm on the pill and my period usually comes like clockwork and lasts 3-4 days. I finished my last period the day before surgery, but by the time I woke up on the day after surgery, I'd started spotting. It's been 7 days and I'm still spotting. Hoping it'll stop here soon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
