I am having surgery here, did you go through SmartShape? How does that all work? Do you stay in Toronto for a few days then fly back home? I know right....I sure hope we stay in touch, making a local buddy in a similar situation would be a real blessing. Yes I went through smartshape, a very simple process. I did all their medical requirements and tests, had a consultation, paid them and booked my date ..... literally 2 weeks ago 😁.... did you go through the bariatric program here? I considered it and heard it was like a 7 -10 yr wait for surgery 😳 so I decided to go a different route.... I fly out tomorrow morning, surgery at 730 monday, will return to my hotel on tuesday afternoon provided all is well and then stay in toronto until thursday when I fly home
mr.sean 60 Posted August 28, 2019 I'm 16 days post-op now. I didn't have any nausea the first 12 days, but since I've started adding soft solid foods back into my diet, I've had a lot of nausea. Is this normal? Also, whenever I take my Multivitamin now, it makes me nauseous for like an hour afterward. The nausea is making it more difficult for me to sip Water throughout the day, and I'm already feeling dehydrated. I want to just take a few big gulps of water but I can't, of course. 1 Carolina Rose reacted to this

The first time I was nauseous post-op was bc of soft foods. The next two days after I struggled with sipping anything. On the second night I drank a Gatorade zero, and then a Protein Shake and felt a lot better. I learned I need to eat every 2-3 hours or I feel nauseous. And the minute I wake up I have to start drinking water. 1 mr.sean reacted to this

Would it help you to step back a phase just for a couple of days ? It’s the hardest thing to keep sipping water continuously when you feel nauseous. I Found it slightly easier with flavoured water . 2 mr.sean and Carolina Rose reacted to this

Jay19 76 Posted August 29, 2019 Hi everyone. I’m 1 day post op vsg August 27th!!! I only did clears for 2 days prior to surgery and then clears the day of surgery post op. The next day and for the next two weeks I’ll be doing full liquid. I was not expecting to be so nauseas and in so much pain. I was actually regretting the surgery. The nausea was pretty bad. Luckily they save me anti nausea and pain medications. Post op day 1 everything is so much better. I didn’t really get much of the gas pains people talk about. I’m already home just spent 1 night in hospital. So far I’m so happy I did this. HW 267 SW 260 CW ? I’ll check in 1 week. 2 1 Bastian, Chiptress and 303nursemom reacted to this

I hope it helps you. Mr SeanI also can feel nauseous if I’ve overdone things too. It’s not easy to just sit and rest when you feel you can do stuff ,but it pays off! I had about 2 teaspoons of Tomato Soup on day 7 and man did I feel ill! I think I had dumping , for the evening and all the next day . Didn’t vomit, but I sure thought I was going to . No worse feeling. Now I’m ultra careful ! Let us know how you get on . Good luck 😊 1 mr.sean reacted to this

I find this hard too, I want to GLUG my drink when I am thirsty. So this whole 'timing' my intake is such an effort Practice will make us perfect though. Baby steps, we have just made huge changes to our lives and need to be kind to ourselves 1 mr.sean reacted to this
HipHopDiva 220 Posted August 29, 2019 Good morning all! Had my surgery August 27th. Doctor discovered a hernia and repaired it. I was in recovery 3 hours due to severe gas pain in my back, chest & shoulder blades. It was hard for me to completely wake up. I saw other patients looking at me like "what kind of surgery she had!". I was nauseous the first day. 1 night in hospital & the only thing that hurts is the incision where they pulled out stomach. It hurts there when I cough too. Been drinking 2oz of water/Gatorade since early this morning so I have taken in 32 ozs thus far! Will make Soup later with 15 grams Protein all ready in it. I walked through the house 5 times so I think I'm doung good. Glad to hear everyone else is doing well too! 303nursemom 34 Posted August 29, 2019 Congrats to all the August sleevers! I was also sleeved on the 27th! I spent one night in the hospital and am home tolerating fluids and thankfully no nausea so far. My abdomen/incisions don’t really hurt, but I woke up with severe hip pain. I could barely stand. The pain meds have helped, but I wasn’t expecting hip pain to be my biggest complaint! Now to get through the one week on clears and Protein Shakes only....... 2 Bastian and HipHopDiva reacted to this
BeeBop211 4 Posted August 29, 2019 I had my surgery August 9th. Recovery is going well, I was up and walking 2 days after surgery. The worst part was the 1st 24 hours, I had terrible nausea for the 1st 12 hours and a lot of pain for the 1st 36 hours. However, the pain faded pretty quickly and I was off the oxy by Tuesday the 13th. I'm down 26 lbs from my pre-surgery weight. I've been going to the gym daily and putting in 45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical for the last 10 days and that has really kick started my weightloss. I've been losing about a 1lb a day since I started cardio. I started soft foods this week and that has gone pretty well. eggs and cheese (Yeah cheese omlets) go down flawlessly as well as soft Pasta, steamed fish, yogurt and fruit smoothies (Shout out to my Vitamix). I made the mistake of having a little crab meat, that was the only thing I ate this week that made me super nauseous. I'm going to have to wait a few more weeks before trying crab again. I also had a tiny little bite of my wifes steak and that actually went down fine. The biggest change I've noticed is my sweet tooth has been greatly reduced, I had a few bites of ice cream and it tasted overwhelmingly sweet. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the surgery. 2 mr.sean and Chiptress reacted to this
bethow 114 Posted August 29, 2019 I had my gastric sleeve 08/21/19. I went to my first post-op yesterday. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I have had the surgery. Yesterday at my post-op, I had the lowest blood pressure reading I have ever had in my life! I was able to meet up with the young woman who was in the bed next to me in the pre-op area of the hospital. She seemed to be doing just as well as I was feeling. I start on solid food next Tuesday. I have been losing weight so quickly on the liquid diet which has been quite thrilling. I am feeling a little nervous about starting on solid food again but know it is just the next step forward on this adventure.

It's so crazy how different the programs depending on the hospital and surgeon. My program said no exercise besides a lot of walking for 4 weeks and no Pasta or rice until at least 12 weeks. I'm glad you're doing so well! 1 Bastian reacted to this
