Yes that’s how it was for me too my first week. I only used the cups for week 1 because o drank too fast once during the week because I wasn’t using them and I felt really nauseous. And now I can sip without using them 1 HipHopDiva reacted to this

You have to make yourself drink it. Sometimes I walk around as I drink it so it goes down easier. The first week was a trial but it does improve. I was in recovery 3 hours due to severe gas pain in my back, chest & shoulder blades. It was hard for me to completely wake up. I saw other patients looking at me like "what kind of surgery she had!". I was nauseous the first day. 1 night in hospital & the only thing that hurts is the incision where they pulled out stomach. It hurts there when I cough too. Been drinking 2oz of water/Gatorade since early this morning so I have taken in 32 ozs thus far! Will make Soup later with 15 grams Protein all ready in it. I walked through the house 5 times so I think I'm doung good. Glad to hear everyone else is doing well too! HW 215 SW 198 YAYYYY you are done with the surgery! I remember "meeting" you here just the weekend before it, and wow time flies, huh? So happy for you!

Would love to hear all the tricks on making sure to get all the Water and the Protein Drinks in and still adhere to the waiting 30 mins between eating and drinking. I struggled today and would love to know how everyone does it. Thank you!! Congrats! And...same here. I just started my soft foods on Thursday, and then last night - just for a moment, but still - I forgot about the "30 minutes before and after" and had a sip of tea right before I started my little bit of Cream of Wheat. I immediately was like "D'OH!" but it was okay I guess bc it had only been a little sip. Still, it kinda scared me. What I'm doing now is starting my phone timer 30 minutes before I know I should eat, to stop drinking. Then when done eating I set my phone timer for another 30 minutes to let me know I can drink liquids again. Hope that helps! 2 Bastian and Chiptress reacted to this

marilindiaz 3 Posted August 31, 2019 I got my sleeve on aug 21 it’s been 10 days I am recuperating well now I’m on full liquid diet and I hope you all are doing well also 1 Bastian reacted to this
bethow 114 Posted August 31, 2019 marlindiaz, I also had my gastric sleeve on the 21st. I have to keep reminding myself that had surgery. Admittedly the liquid diet after the surgery seems to be much easier than the two weeks before the surgery. I am amazed at how well I feel. I have a bad back and so walking is difficult but I have a recumbent bike and have started riding it for five minute intervals three times a day. LOL, I was notified that I should start on solid, chewable food on Tuesday and I am nervous!

I am still on full liquids but ate a slice of pizza with no problem....maybe that is where the two came back. You definitely should not have eaten pizza. Because of the bread, you shouldn’t eat pizza for at least 6 months after surgery. If you’re having intense cravings for food like pizza that you can’t fight, you should talk to your surgeon and nutritionist. 1 Deedee12 reacted to this

My trick for getting enough fluids post op- because it was mainly very smooth, pudding apple sauce etc my nurse told me during this phase it was more important to drink, most of what I was eating wasn't thick enough for me to have to wait the 30 mins. I found that with the light things drinking constantly was so much easier after I stopped setting the timer, and it did not adversely affect me. I am so glad for that even not having to wait the 30 mins I couldn't get all 64 oz in. I'm 12 days post op and today is the first day I have met my Fluid goal. How? I am really not sure. My sips are a little bigger and somehow that is making it easier on me. I to experiment to find the perfect size sip for me.

Am I eating the right amount of calories? My program wouldn't give me a calorie goal, but I've been between 600 and 800 per day. I'm 17 days post-op now. I wasn't told anything at all about a calorie goal, just make sure I get my Protein. My first appt was yesterday at 11 days post op. I had only lost 16lbs. But my Dr was actually very happy with that for me. I was worried I hadn't lost enough but him being happy with my loss eased my worry. 1 mr.sean reacted to this

I feel nothing hunger wise and do not even feel the desire to eat or drink. My surgeon blessed me to do full liquids this morning when he saw me so I started with the Protein Shakes and barely got an ounce in since I've been home. Tomorrow I'll definitely try harder to get everything in but they're ok if I don't, in fact, the dietician said I probably wouldn't get it all in for the first month. When I came home on the 21st I could only get about 2 oz down at a time. By Fri I could drink a whole bottle and have had no issues with Protein at all, minus the fact it does take me at least 30 mins to drink 11 oz. One thing I know for me at least, as soon as I got more protein in me, I really started to feel a lot better. Yesterday was the first day I actually felt hunger, so for that it could just take a bit of time. Today (12 days) is also the first day I have met my Fluid goal. Chiptress 327 Posted September 1, 2019 Happy day today! Omg!! I’m 12 days out (8/19/19 ) & today I actually feel better than I have in I don’t know how long!! I have energy & a positive outlook. 14 lbs down so that’s another plus. I’m realizing just how depressed I’ve been for awhile now. Because of Being overweight & physically uncomfortable I slowly started dropping out of life. I am looking forward to jumping back in with both feet when I’m able!I stated cooking today for the puréed stage. I’m going to make the ricotta bake (then of course purée it). tuna salad, chili, scrambled eggs with low-fat cheese, . Etc etc. Hope all my August pals & everyone else is doing well & enjoying the holiday weekend !! Joan 2 mr.sean and Bastian reacted to this

I only did clears for 2 days prior to surgery and then clears the day of surgery post op. The next day and for the next two weeks I’ll be doing full liquid. I was not expecting to be so nauseas and in so much pain. I was actually regretting the surgery. The nausea was pretty bad. Luckily they save me anti nausea and pain medications. Post op day 1 everything is so much better. I didn’t really get much of the gas pains people talk about. I’m already home just spent 1 night in hospital. So far I’m so happy I did this. HW 267 SW 260 CW ? I’ll check in 1 week. Congrats! Glad you’re doing well. I had sleeve 8/19/19 & every day gets better & better!!!
