Two week anniversary tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Congratulations Phil. I was banded 3 weeks ago and I am on mushies (will be for another few days). I am yet to test my band with solid food but so far all has been great. The only times I threw up were the first 2 days in the hospital when I couldn't keep down some of my meds. I went to dinner for the first time last night but couldn't see anything on the menu to eat so ended up eating mashed potatoes and a skim hot chocolate later in the night... I guess it will be easier when I'm on solids... more to choose from.

What part of the middle east are you in?

Other than I live in Doha in Qatar and work in the oil industry, I won't say too much publicly in case I identify myself. It is a small community here. Cheers, Phil.

Wow 2/3 - 1 cup of food at a time Phil! That sounds like a feast to me. I would be in severe pain if I ate that much. I think my suregeons technique is similar to yours, mine folded my stomach over my band and stitched in into a kindda pocket for my band.

I have been wondering about the wide variance in diets too. But I switched surgeons midstream, and from what I saw of my previous surgeon, she was very strict as well.

Hi Ghannouge, apologies for the late response to your post. Hope your surgery went smoothly and you are well on the way to a slim new you. My surgery was done at Al Ahli hospital in Doha and I am looked after by Dr Fawzi Jadallah.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
