Recommended Posts

So I just got approved after a while year of doing test and labs.. my insurance wanted lots of reasons for me to get it.. like if being 36 with w weight of 540 was not enough and constant knee pain..

BUT I'm happy to say that it will happen in August reason being Ok I want to enjoy the summer and not get supper dehydrated during the summer months...

My doctor said not to worry about losing weight but I want to make it as easy as can be for them how did you shrink your liver what kind of diet did you do 2 months before the sleeve

Congrats on your surgery date! I knew my surgery date about 6 weeks ahead of time, so I "practiced" eating small meals with fewer calories during that time so it would come more naturally after I had the surgery. To shrink my liver my surgeon had me on a calorie-restricted 1500 calorie diet for two weeks prior to surgery with no fatty foods.

Nice.. Yeah my surgeon said he could do it no matter.. He didn't say to loose weight but from what I have seen on this platform . A lot of people say they did some kind of prescribed diet... Thank you GradyCat

Most of us in Australia are given a pre-op diet anywhere from 1-4 weeks mostly Protein Shakes, high Protein intake only maybe veges or even small can of tuna for one meal a day but I suggest spending the next 3 months educating yourself on good food and bad food and intake and read read read!

I've been reading and reading ever since my primary recommended it back in Feb. 2018... I seen my Sleeve doctor on 4-19-18 and was approved this month..
It's just that my Dr said no need for dropping.. Thanks for the advise..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
