I'm in the pureed food portion of my post-op diet and I notice that I'm gaining some weight back. I admit that I have been messing up a lot with my eating choices. I'm struggling with balancing the things I'm supposed to be doing. I'm supposed to eat 5 small meals a day of 1/4 cup portions, drink a Protein Shake, drink Water and take my Vitamins.

I'm not drinking the Protein shake, I don't eat until later in the day, I'm not making healthy food choices when I do eat, I cant seem to slow my eating down to 15 minutes.

Does anyone have any ideas to help me or words of wisdom/support?

Go back to basics! you know what you are doing wrong. That is the first step, the second step is to go back to what works, and the 3rd step is to follow through. You got this!

Yes , take full advantage of this honeymoon phase. Follow your surgeons plan. It’s not always the easiest but it IS the best and you will NEVER get this opportunity window back. Once the honeymoon is over, it’s OVER. My friends brother told her something that is pretty profound and I use it often now. Paraphrasing but, “ losing weight is hard. Being fat is hard. Pick your hard” Good luck!! It IS hard but use this time wisely. And I totally agree, you GOT this 👍🏻

Try to stay away from any "pureed" foods that contain sugar or other carbs like Applesauce, etc. Get a Ninja and puree fresh produce and lean Proteins and you'll be good to go. Also, make sure your yogurts and Snacks are as fat and calorie free as possible.

Find what works for you. Try to make small changes. If all else fails try using this. It's what I do.. gives me a good idea of what and what not to put in my body.Screenshot_20190423-164233_Facebook.jpeg

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
