Is my goal reasonable?

Recommended Posts

I would like to lose 52lbs and reach my goal weight by the end of November 2019. That gives me 7 months. Is that something that is achievable? My surgeon's office keeps telling me that my surgery is going to "stop helping me" soon and that my "honeymoon period" is over and it's really discouraging me. I am still losing weight at about 7-10lbs per month, so if I keep that rate up, I should get there. Will things slow down or is 7-10lbs in the "final 6 months" before the 12 month mark still attainable? My 6 months is May 1.

What was YOUR personal experience in the 6-12 month period?

I have this personal deadline because I want my brachioplasty in December to minimize my leave request and also get rid of the batwings forever.

I think it's doable (mind you, I am basically just as far out as you are). Everyone will be different, but if your own monthly losses aren't tapering out significantly yet, then I would *think* your own honeymoon period is still going strong, right?

But seriously though, looks like you've already lost about two-thirds of our excess weight. You're already waaaay ahead of the game in terms of averages. Congrats!

I'm glad top hear you're doing so well. Mine is going more slowly and I don't think I could reach that goal by then, but I wish I could. Good luck!

My 6-12 month period has been abysmal but that is mostly because of me and my poor choices. In months 0-6 I lost 90 pounds, 6-12 only 26 pounds.

Now can you do it, why not? It is 7 pounds a month, not an outragous goal. In the same breath, don't be overly disappointed if it doesn't happen. Bodies can sux, and will sometimes just not do as they are told. As longs as you are going forward and not backwards consider it a win.

I have not had the surgery yet but I think that's totally possible, if you add working out into your day and eating well (track calories?) then you should smash it! 🙂 Do not let them discourage you! Although do remember it's not the weight on the scales that ultimately matters but how you feel in your self and clothes, some peoples journeys are quicker than others. I wish you all the best 🙂

Easy provided you follow the rules. I know a few people who lost 100 in that time

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
