Paperwork filed with cigna yesterday!

Recommended Posts

:clap2: I am so excited and nervous. My dr's office filed the paperwork with Cigna yesterday, Nov. 16th. I hope to hear from them soon!! It's been a long and hard road. I thought I'd never get to this stage. Now if I can only get my ticker to show up on here. I really like this board and all the people I have chatted with. I only know of one more person in my town I can talk to. Good thing Lynchburg is small, easy to find her.

Thanks for the support.

Felicia

I have Medicare, and Cigna kicks in after I have met $5,000.00 out-of-pocket. Would the doctor be able and willing to work with me on the deductable?

I'm not sure. It dependss on how much they want up front, if any. I'd call and ask your dr. I live in TN and I am having my surgery with Dr. Spaw in Nashville, Baptist hospital. Good luck. F

good luck I was told by my insurance company that this time of year they have 15 days to make a decision

I have the same surgeon that you have and my paperwork was , submitted to Cigna on 10/22, but I have not heard anything yet. I noticed your surgery date and I wonder if mine will also be around that time. I am ok with a January surgery date so that I can use my health account Visa to pay for it.

My 75-page fax from the surgeon's office was sent to Cigna on 10/17/07, then after bugging them I got this message -

The pre-determination was sent to our medical director for review on

11/13/2007. It normally takes 10-15 business days to receive this back from the date it was sent for review, not the date it was received or processed.

The 15 business days start when in the hands of the medical director. Still haven't gotten the decision. :)

appalcart I hope you don't have to wait much longer!. I haven't heard anything yet. I guess with the holidays and all it will take a few extra days. I sure hope they hurry. I'd like to start off a new year in "band" style.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
