Protein deficiency at 6 months?!?

Recommended Posts

I struggled a LOT in the beginning getting Protein. Like, I would get 20-30g a day. At my 3 month appointment my prealbumin levels were at the lowest end of normal.

I since upped my protein and consistently get 80-90g a day, sometimes higher. Every day. Without fail. I got my 6 month labs back just now and now it says I am protein deficient!??!? WHAT THE HECK!? I can't physically consume any more protein! lol. Seriously, it's all I eat basically. What am I supposed to do?

Stir GENEPRO or another Protein Powder into everything you can? That 🐭🐱is a hard hard question to answer. I feel like I'm a Protein with occasional sides of veggies myself. Don't you feel like screaming YOU CANT GET BLOOD FROM A TURNIP! , cause I sure do!

I can't have GENEPRO because it has whey in it. Like, wtf though! How was my Protein HIGHER when I wasn't eating any????

I have to have 100+ grams every day or my prealbumin level tanks. Just get some powder you can tolerate and stir it into things - sugar free pudding, yogurt, etc. ANYTHING to get your numbers up!

Arghhhh this is crazy. I just don't understand how they are LOWER than when I wasn't getting even 1/4 of what I get now. Stupid body.

Talked to my nutritionist and she said not to worry about the prealbumin and that my actual Protein intake is a better indicator and she thinks I am doing fantastic. THANK GODDDD.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
