Question for GradyCat re calories 4 weeks post op

Recommended Posts

Hi, GradyCat, and others. You mentioned in reply to another post that I should be consuming 600-800 calories a day. My nut didn't give me a guideline, but I am 4 weeks out this Wednesday. Still on shakes and puree. Does that calorie recommendation still hold? Thanks

at this point there's pretty much no way you're going over 600-800 kcal a day, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just focus on getting all your Protein and fluids in.

No, I generally eat 420-520 a day, and was suggested to eat 600-800. That seems high for 4 weeks post Gb. Just asking!

Once you're past the liquids phase and the soft foods phase post-op, my nutritionist recommended I stay in the range of 600-800 calories per day for regular solid foods while in the losing phase for a year or so. I just saw her two weeks ago for my 3-month post-op visit and she reiterated this calorie range to me.

Great! Thank you. I've got a few more weeks to go before I'm there, but will try to increase calories now.
