Overly full feeling aftet 3 bites of egg

Recommended Posts

Ugh. First time this has happened. I mashed up a hard boiled egg with a bit of light mayo, slowly took about 3 bites and felt like I had eaten a whole pizza! Stopped eating, of course, but it has been 1.5 hours and I still feel yucky. Does this mean I can't tolerate eggs? How long before this gross feeling goes away? (I'm 23 days post op, and still in the puree stage.)

I remember taking my first two or three bites of scrambled egg when I hit the soft food stage. Oh my goodness, I thought I was gonna pop. I'm going to say the reason you feel yucky with only three bites, like I did, was because you are only three weeks post op. Your stomach is still wondering what the heck you did to it. LOL I can now eat almost 2 scrambled eggs a year after surgery. In your first 6 months post op, you're going to have a lot of "firsts" introducing food back into your diet. But over time, it gets better and food becomes much more tolerable. At least it did for me.

My surgery was in 2013. To this day, if I eat one bite too much I get that sick feeling. One must learn not to take that extra bite. You’ll figure it out.

eggs are a little hard on your stomach at first, especially hard-boiled eggs. It might be a few weeks before you can have them.

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say. It took months before I could eat an entire hard boiled egg. Even now, I CAN but I generally stick with soft-boiled eggs.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm going to wait a few weeks, and then try either scrambled or soft boiled, if at all!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
