Meal Plan before Nutrition Education Classes

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I just had my first visit with a nurse navigator today - considering the sleeve. I’m 38, 5’ 10”, current weight is 310 pounds, have had diabetes type II for 13 years ( current A1c is 8.9). BMI is 44.

I’m going for a surgical eval 4/30, and then after than I can schedule my first nutrition class. My insurance (Aetna) requires that I don’t gain any weight from now until surgery. Given that my nutrition visit won’t be for a few weeks, does anyone have an easy sample meal plan they followed?

Thank you in advance!

60-80g Protein, low fat, low carb. 64oz minimum of Water a day. Try to cut out caffeine (soda, coffee, etc.) now because you don't want to go cold turkey off of it with surgery. If you smoke, stop now. I had to maintain my weight for 6 months to keep my BMI over 35. Another thing...they're probably going to want your A1C down before surgery so try your hardest to eat a low carb diet. Healthy veggies are okay but stay away from processed foods and always eat your protein first. Take your time with your meals, 30 minutes to complete one and pay attention to hunger cues. If you feel satisfied, stop eating. Some docs will refuse to do surgery unless your A1C is under a certain level. I'm not sure what that level is because I'm thankfully not diabetic, yet. My last A1C was 5.1. Since you have DMII then you should be able to go below a BMI of 40 as long as you stay above 35. A low carb diet is the best way to get DMII under control and lose weight. Good Luck! You got this!

60 g of Protein per day. Take a dinner plate and fill half of it with protein, 1/4 of it with veggies, and 1/4 of it with grains/carbs. Eat the protein first. If you're full, don't move on to the veggies, if not, go to veggies, then grains last only if hungry.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
