Hello, I was banded two days ago, the pain is manageable but I am having this weird uncomfortable feeling in my throat and diaphram. It is alot of pressure, maybe my Vitamins didn't go down but I took them 11 hours ago. I am also starving on this liquid diet!:help:

I had alot of pressure in my chest as well post op. I had a hiatus hernia repair during the surgery and quite a bit of Fluid put in as primer. Once they took out the fluid, it was better in a few days. I wasn't able to take Vitamins whole until just recently. Do you have fluid in your band? Did you have a hernia repair?

It may be gas pressure . Are you taking or have you tried taking any Gas X strips ? Theones that dissolve when you put them in your mouth ?

That is probably what it is . but i would call your doc just to make sure.

Its better safe than sorry . Also make sure the Vitamins are small enough . Are the chewables ?

HTH .

Mindy

I was banded 2 days ago and am having the same problem. I'm assuming we are still tight and their is some gastric reflux. I took some pepcid AC (chewable). You might try the gax-x (chewable) as suggested also. Also, never hesitate to call your physican.

I think it was about in the third week when the shoulder pains ceased. And not to be indelicate, but encourage farting and burping because that is the ONLY way it's going to expel the air from your body.

I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and the gas is almost gone. I also used gas -X.

I do feel weak, especially after I go to the bathroom to do #2. I'm trying to drink as much as possible.I had eight glasses yesterday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
