Protein making me nauseous

Recommended Posts

Congrats.. I just scheduled my surgery date for 8-2-19.. it's too hot in California I fear I would get dehydrated if I do it this month... and my son turns 2 in July I wouldn't want to miss his big day... so 2 weeks after his bday I'm going under

How many days of Protein diet before your preop

I've been doing one Protein Shake a day for about 6 weeks. Now for pre-op diet I have to do 2 Meal Replacement Protein Shakes for 2 weeks.

Isopure Low or Zero Carb powders , Unjury chicken Soup Flavor, and Unflavored powder are my post surgery choices. Premier shakes were okay for me pre-surgery and I could chug them from the carton and not taste too much (a shaker bottle is great to avoid tasting them too much too).

I felt like I was quitting smoking again with withdrawls from food/flavor variety by being limited to so few textures and flavors--the struggle is real, but part of the surgery process involves retraining your brain.

After surgery I had to start using powders in skim milk or Water because the thickness of the premade shakes made me gag. I spent a week on nothing but chicken soup flavor because anything sweet made me nauseous (I had to buy different chewable vitamins too). Expect your tastes to change to bit as the process moves on.

Trying mixing in unsweetened cocoa powder, Decaf coffee crystals, cinnamon, and peanut powder too.

The clear drinks leave a pasty film in your mouth that is worse than the shakes to me.

I just tried the Unjury ready made in rich chocolate and so far this is the best. My question is since this comes in 8.5 oz is it suitable for week one where they were saying I can only do shakes of up to 4oz.

what unjury Protein is closest to the rich chocolate ready made. They sent cholcolate splendor and chocolate classic.

I have been drinking the premier chocolate. I have to hold my nose to drink it. I’m on a 7 day preop diet. I have to get 60 g of Protein a day. No solids. I ate a skinless, boneless thin chicken breast of the grill today. I feel guilty. But, I was so hungry!!

You could also add Crystal lite powder. I hadn't made a run for more strawberry Ensure max Protein, poured vanilla Protein Shake in my Blender Bottle, added. a pkg of Equate(wal-mart brand) Wild Strawberry drink oiwder, after I mixed it well it was doggone good, so I tried Peach Mango in another, also good!🍶

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
