Need encouragement from slow losers

Recommended Posts

I stalled for 8 weeks - I feel your pain. While I guess I've lost a decent amount in 6 months, it still feels slow to me. I have another 52lbs I need to lose and my "honeymoon period" is apparently at its end so I don't feel like I will ever meet my goal. I feel like I should be losing more because of how much I workout and how well I eat.

I've only lost 6 pounds in the last 4 weeks. This is so difficult for me to comprehend. When I had my sleeve (5 yrs ago) I was dropping weight like crazy. I understand the body needs time to recover from surgery and "figure out" whats happening. But like so many have said here...its almost impossible to wrap my head around how eating under 800 calories per day can not result in the scale moving lower faster than it is for so many of us. Dare I say it...I'm almost beginning to think...why did I do this? Surgery was very difficult on me and took me a solid 5 weeks to recover from. OK rant over. [emoji4]
It is hard and I don't know why I am losing slowly. I think our body gets used to eating a low amount calories. I am happy I am losing instead of gaining. In the past I was a gainer. I hope that I can lose my full amount. Hang in there! Hopefully, losing more weight next month will occur.[emoji4]

I'm 54 and just had surgery 4 months ago and I'm in my second stall already and have only lost 35 pounds so far post -op, but I have faith that it will continue if I just keep doing what I'm doing.

I just looked up my stats. At 4 months I lost 34.6 pounds. I’m 8 months out still losing slow, the past few months have been really slow but it’s still coming off. I have about 9 pounds until goal. I think you and I might have similar metabolisms!

edited to add: Upside: I believe I am at a lower risk for regain because I have had to work pretty hard over the past few months to keep the scale moving. I don’t take 1 pound for granted.

This group/thread has made me feel much more "normal" than I did over the past few weeks. I'd really like to keep hearing updates from everybody as this type of support is definitely helping me. Not every weight loss journey is sunshine and roses and this is hard work with what seems to be slow payoff. BUT, as so many have mentioned the scale is going in the right direction because we're sticking with what we know is right. Even though our heads are saying what the heck, body....get with the program and step it up! :)

How are the other slow losers doing today? I went up .6 of a pound today and feel bloated in my lower belly. Realized I need to take a laxative as it's been a few days. (Sorry for TMI) Hoping that gets me to feeling better. I am feeling a little depressed and could use a boost.

@FluffyChix was right! A laxative and a 1 pound drop in weight today. Now if I can just do that again! ;)

I can feel and see the lower tummy is not as bloated as yesterday but I still need to go more. I'm a Miralax once a day kind of girl from now on I think. (Doc's suggestion)

I also see a physical therapist today to start underwater aquatic exercise so that should help my situation too!

Hope everyone is having a good Friday. Keep up the good fight!

Today marks 3 weeks post bypass for me, and although I'm not in a stall per se, I am losing very very slowly. I'm 57 and post menopausal so that may have something to do with it. I'm eating approx 55-90 gm Protein a day and still in purees. I need assurance that if I keep working my plan I will eventually lose weight. Any successful slow losers out there?

I too am a slow loser ... I have lost a total of 35 pounds since December 31, 2018... and have not lost not 1 pound all of March or April in fact I keep going from 160 to 165 back and fourth. I Literally watch what I eat I count my calories staying under 900, I limit my carb intake and I hit the gym. Whats even more frustrating is I am surrounded by friends and co workers who have gotten the surgery and they do not work out ...and...they eat all day long...they don't diet.

I have to remember not everyone's journey is the same right, and I guess I have to work hard at it, hard work is not bad, i'm glad I can hear from others though ... my goal is to lose at least 30 more pounds at least...

Everyone is different and how did you do before surgery?.. Your body is probably still in save mode.. it's trying to adjust to the fewer calories and then it will do it's job and drop those pounds

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
