Tia Maria 0 Posted November 17, 2007 Hi there, I'm due to start my pre-op diet on 27th November....totally dreading it. Has anyone started it? How are you doing....What are you doing? Has anyone cheated? Shouldn't really be thinking that way, but when I'm starving I start to get a little panicky and can't seem to cope with life very well. Anyone else have this experience? I can't wait for the two weeks to be over. :help:
Newblew 0 Posted November 17, 2007 I start mine the day after Thanksgiving. Talk about going out with a bang! I actually can't imagine how I'm going to do it. I'm hoping that a combination of excitement and fear keep me on the straight and narrow. I also heard that after a few days in, you really lose a lot of the hunger, so I don't think that it will be two whole weeks of torture...maybe just two days that will seem like two weeks! I'm going to pick up some Protein powder and Slimfast optima this weekend to prepare. Other than that I think I'll say in denial for the last few days. I'll write if I find anything yummy! Good luck! Have been pretty good so far on Optifast but I wish whoever invented the stuff was made to live on it - not the tastiest thing in the world. After 3or 4 days its not too bad. The real hunger goes and its just the head hunger that gets to me - even dreaming about it!!!:hungry: When date do you have for your surgery. christasha 0 Posted November 21, 2007 I mix up my powder in the morning . . . have an AdvantEdge by EAS at lunch at work, and mix my powder again at night . . . I'm trying different samples. I'm allowed a small meal once a day . . . 3 oz meat, 1/2 cup veggies, 1/2 carbs, 1 cup salad and one tennis ball sized piece of fruit. I've been eating an apple either late morning or mid afternoon . . . and been doing a lean cuizine for dinner. Not TOTALLY starving . . . but my daughter can hear my stomach growling across the room at night. It could be worse .. . Chris

I am on 3 meals a day of Optifast + 2 cups of vegetables. No meat, no fruit. Fortunately I only have until December 3 for my op. Danna

Anyone have any ideas to make it taste less like chalk? Meghan I had a yummy Optifast for lunch today. Instead of using cold Water to mix it I used Diet Orange Soda + a couple of ice cubes and vanilla Opti - much better than plain. Try adding some essences to the shakes or if you are allowed them some diet syrups.< /p> Danna

Lost in LS 0 Posted November 24, 2007 I laughed when I read your post. My surgery is scheduled for 12/6, and I was supposed to start my pre-op diet on Thanksgiving! I went ahead and started a couple of days early (thinking I would totally blow it on Thanksgiving.) I was really dreading it, but it hasn't been as bad as I thought. I have never been a successful dieter (thus needing the band), and I was in a panic. My doctor is having me do the Protein Shake twice a day, one lean cuisine, and a glass of milk. The Protein Shakes aren't as bad as I thought. I wait as late as I can in the morning for my first one, I have the second one around 2pm, and then my lean cuisine for a late dinner. The first time I opened a lean cuisine, I couldn't believe how small the portions were! Anyway, it's not been too bad yet, but Monday I'm going on vacation for a week with my DH. Yikes! He is supportive, but I still am unsure about how well I will do on this diet. I'm taking the blender, and I know we'll save money on eating out! Whenever I start getting really hungry, I go pick something off of my "to do" list and get busy. I've gotten a lot done that I've been putting off.
Newblew 0 Posted November 24, 2007 Not as exciting as Day 1, I've noticed. Predictably, all the excitement and enthusiasm with which I embraced Day 1 kind of evaporated by about 12:30 on Day 2. Definitely more of a struggle, but I'm allowed to have yogurt and pudding so that got me through the worst part of the day and I'm feeling more able to cope now. Although I have nothing planned for dinner for DH and the kids, so it looks like I'm going to be ordering pizza for them - I'd better stay far, far away. Must....eat....broth....pizza...bad....broth...delicicious...
mejr62 0 Posted November 25, 2007 Did you all have to have blood work done within a month of surgery? I had it done for insurance, prior to being approved although they are asking for it again within one month of surgery????? Pro Op is going okay. I am glad that I experimented with some products early as there are certainly some that are yuck!! I ordered powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury (choc, vanilla and chicken soup). Made the mistake of using to hot of Water with the chicken Soup and it clumped up. About made me vomit I found that I am not that hungry... really. Which is a total shocker for me as I am a TRUE binge eater. Glad to hear everyone seems to be doing well!!
