I’m 4 days post-op, and while the pain is manageable, my energy level is not. I’m exhausted! Can’t stay awake for more than a few hours at a time. When did this end for some of you? I’m so worried that with so few nutrients I’ll feel this exhausted for a long time. :-( Im taking my Vitamins, getting about 40 oz of fluids plus about 40-50g of Protein Shakes each day.

Very typical, re-read your discharge paperwork. This will last about a month

It happens to all of us. It's a initial side effect as your body adjust to its new self and it eats itself to compensate with all the calories you aren't giving it. You'll be fine in a 2 weeks give or take.

Just continue moving and don't be sedentary for extended periods of time.

I am a month out and I finally feel mostly back to myself. The first three weeks were the hardest. Dont push yourself..rest whenever you are feeling tired.

I was still tired after 2 plus months out from surgery so at my 3 month post check up, my surgeon had me start taking B12 (5000 mg) daily along with the once-a-week nasal spray he prescribed. What a huge difference that made!!! I finally felt like my old self. I used the Kirkland brand from costco that was cherry flavored. At my 6 month check up, he told me to use it every other day since my levels were high. This doesn't harm you because B12 is Water soluble and you pee out any extra but why waste money.

Hi sdl2019
That is very normal, your body is healing! Give yourself at least a week. Take some B12. You'll be back to yourself in no time!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
