I am finally home day one I told them before surgery no pain meds the anesthesiologist told me I needed it before they wheeled me back it messed me up for the rest of the day I am super sensitive to pain meds so I would get dizzy and feel faint if I set up. By 5:30 on day one that wore off that nite I had pretty bad gas pains but Tylenol 3 helped with that also mixed with phenagran and then I got to come home yesterday not having any problems taking in fluids or my broth and I seem to be able to drink almost normal sips don’t know how normal that is

Me too. I've been able to drink all my stuff so easily that it kind of scares me. I mean it really makes me wonder if they just opened me up and then closed me up Haha. Now I know what our other siblings meant.

Please don't let this freak you out. The vast majority don't have these problems and I have a feeling that she pushed herself too hard...i'm not saying that to be harsh, she knows that I care :)

I do know you care :) and yes I'm pretty sure that's all it is. I've been pushing my limits because the hubby is working so it's up to super mom to get things done. Haiden (my 9 yr old) has been amazingly helpful though.

Ha! Welcome to my world! Although now that I'm on purees, I'm finding it harder to get all my Water in. Plus I have to factor in the 30-minute wait times before and after. I finally hit all my numbers the other day and I was ready to have a ticker tape parade. Lol

Haha it's so weird though. Like with liquids I haven't gotten any "I'm-full-stop-eating-now-or-suffer-my-wrath" cues yet. Maybe because its liquids mainly. What kind of puree recipes are you doing? I need some idea. I've done refried Beans with taco seasoning and this fat free/carb free white cheese dip. I decided to give myself a few more days to heal before I move on to purees/soft foods.

Not sure how long you are between purée and soft food or what your dr calls the difference but mine never did a purée phase. Today is the first day I haven’t had cottage cheese in a few weeks. tuna salad(basically with a tiny bit of relish and lite mayo) at lunch, eggs with cheese in the am, and I try to make fish or shredded meat for dinner that everyone can eat but some days I just send them for pizza and I have tuna again or leftovers. Canned green Beans and cauliflower and broccoli even if it is just a bite. I like veggies more than meat so I have to get them in after my Protein. I did bean Soup with ham. I have the stuff to do the ricotta bake but it just doesn’t appeal to me in the heat.

And I only got the cues twice on liquids. Once very early with yogurt when I ate too quickly. The other with grits and I thought I was dying. I had to go lie down🤦‍♀️😕 I’ve not made that error since.

Some of the things I've had are Oikos Triple Zero yogurt, hummus, ricotta bake, black beans with taco seasoning and cheese, beef barley Soup that's been run through the blender, mashed up tuna salad, and bananas. Haven't done much other cooking yet.

Lucky. I have two weeks of purees until I can have soft foods. Looking forward to eggs.< br>

Thinking about returning to work this week... had surgery on 6/25 and I feel great. Only taking Tylenol 800mg once a day, no pain, no issue getting liquids down, and feeling good energy wise. Spent yesterday and today at church programs and didn’t feel any different from my normal self.
Only having issues with head hunger and wanting to have soft/puréed foods; although I’m on restriction to Clear Liquids til 7/10

https://www.shespeaks.com/Bariatric-friendly-Baked-Ricotta-Recipe here’s the recipe. I think it is in recipes here too. I just went ahead and made it to get rid of the giant tub of ricotta. I had to 4x it bc I bought a 32 oz. so I now have 16 servings. The kids will eat it. Maybe husband too with some breadsticks or something. It tasted good but is very heavy. Eat it slow😉

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
