I was wondering how much time it took to get back to normal duties.

I'm an aircraft mechanic. I was back to work in three months, but that had more to do with my previous knee surgery rather than my VSG. After the bariatric surgery I felt surprisingly good. With each week that passed I saw the scale move down and that supported my mood to skyrocket.

I am a firefighter. I am 4 weeks out and still have a great deal of incision pain. I am shooting for another two weeks or so to get back to work. I have lost some strength that needs to get rebuilt but other than those two factors, I feel good.

Thanks for your responses. I plan to get my sleeve in July. I am scared of not being able to recover quick enough and loose my "spot". Jenifahoh knows where I am coming from....If I am down for too long I will be stuck in dispatch or on the ambo the rest of my career.

My surgeon has lifting restrictions for 4 weeks minimum. But at 15 days post op, I have no noticeable pain in my abdomen or around the incisions.

The biggest challenge I have is nausea and getting the Protein and fluids in.

I'm a machinist had surgery on Friday 4-5-19 and was back at work on the following Tuesday. I didn't tell work I was having surgery because I didn't want to be held out of work. I work 55 hours a week and so far all is good.
