10 days post op smooth sailing?

Recommended Posts

I am 10 days post op and I have had ZERO issues. Even in the hospital things moved along smoothly. Maybe it’s my own head just expecting it but I feel like this should be more complicated. Anyone else just have a fantastic experience?

The worst pain I’ve had is from the blood thinner injections. Swelling and bruising that just won’t quit. Even nausea, I’m expecting that to kick in any moment. I know so many people struggle and I guess I have psyched myself out. Anyone else have smooth transitions?

Yes mine was super smooth!! Only thing I had was gas pain but that disappeared and was expected.
Recovery was very easy but I also didn’t have any previous surgeries in the past. I will be a year end of July.
Glad your surgery and recovery went well!!

Doom and gloom feeling about what? The surgery that went well? Or are you feeling like you’re waiting for something to go wrong?

Same. I never really felt different. Just a little less hungry.

Same experience here... The few hours post surgery were painful, and I had the occasional gas pains but nothing crazy. The nurses commented on how fast I walked after surgery, and my ability to get up without assistance. The Heparin shots barely left a mark (though the IV area was a little tender).

There we a few nights at home in a recliner because the incisions were painful when lying down, but I have not had any issues with drinking enough fluids or taking pills. I am definitely less hungry and shedding weight, but it is not nearly the horrorshow I feel like people think it is.

I feel beyond ready to start soft foods, but I am sticking to the liquids and focusing on retraining my brain to avoid boredom/emotional hunger...

Perhaps we are extra fortunate, or our presurgical regimens were extra effective....

Mine was also smooth sailing i'm very lucky just you basic gas pains. I've had no vomiting or nausea, feeling great walking, I was doing so good I got to start the soft food 10 days out. I have been very carful though to. see my doctor tomorrow so hopefully i can add more soft foods, so fa I'm doing scrambled egg, can in Water tuna and had salmon tonight and a mashed well avocado. Still doing yogurt and some Soup , not loving the Protein Shakes anymore but have had some. Just seeing what the future will hold with my weight loss journey . Soi far so good! :)

Two weeks post op today woohoooo

I was walking the same day as surgery and walked every hour the day after

no gas pain just slight incision pain that was managed well.

Water was difficult in the first few days but got easier daily.

Still on liquids - making lots of good wholesome homemade Soups but last few days I’m making them thicker and they are still fine , so next few days I’ll move to mushy foods.

Not sure how I’ll be on that ... anyone moving to mushy foods in the next few days ? What are you planning to try ?

I weighed last week just one week pre op and hadn’t lost anything , I think due to water gain so I’m not going to weigh again until my check up 16th May.

I’m so grateful things went smoothly for me . I did stick to the ore op 100% and the surgeon said he could tell as my liver was really small. I also walked a lot very soon after the op. I believe that helped a lot too and also the attitude you have to mentally be well will also help

good luck to everyone x

I had a smooth sleeve surgery experience. No complications, no pain, no problems with Constipation or swallowing, it's been a pleasure.

Don't wait for something bad to happen! You're just one of the lucky ones that didn't have a bad experience. Accept your good fortune!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
