I haven't seen anyone coming through in quite a while - it is rarely done in the US as it isn't usually covered by insurance and hasn't gained acceptance by the ASMBS yet. It really isn't any less "invasive" than a normal VSG or even an RNY as it is still major surgery; it's only real claim is that it is technically reversible and is cheaper than either, so it has been one of the Mx offerings for self pay patients.

As with the mini-bypass, it falls into the category of being "almost as good as" the original procedure upon which it is nominally based, but less expensive to perform. Some may do as well, or even better than average VSG performance, but that is largely due to their individual effort and circumstances.

Good luck,

Thx for your comment. I like it because it's less invasive. My BMI is 31. So I have about 40 lb to LOSE. Thinking this May the way to go

Hi I had a plication about 7 years ago when it was still pretty new to my country. It lasted about 1.5yrs until some of the sutures unraveled and I needed to get the whole thing reversed. I was hesitant to undo it as I was losing weight but my surgeon said I could die so I got it reversed. I put most of the weight back on. Last year I got a sleeve done and now I’m less than 5kg from goal.

To be fair and to clear what seems to be a ton of misconceptions in America about the Mini Gastric Bypass / One Anastomosis Bypass / Omega Loop Bypass, there's nothing 'almost as good as' about the MGB compared to RNY. More weight loss, better resolution of comorbidities, and fewer complications. Higher risk of malnutrition long-run (like duodenal switch patients) and a risk of reflux, though much lower than sleeve.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
