Waking up it was very hard for me to snap out of it and realize what was going on. I think I had too many drugs in my system and to put me to sleep I still didn't feel well until the 4th week or back to myself was very Angry in that was not like me!

Same! I had a weird awakening but it was my first surgery under general so maybe that's how they all go... I felt normal again like I never had surgery at 2 months post op. Hang in there 💜

I need 20% to be okay still. Not loosing! getting plenty of water and protein. No exercise yet still shaking and dizzy still in the house! Think it was on medication I was on before the surgery. The fasting before the surgery may me very weak I'm still very weak. It's like my personality changed? Crazy but true! My friends are like you're getting better! You can really tell

The same I was in the hospital for 5 days I think the thing is I'm not even sure! I have people here taking care of me and I was out of it I'm just starting to get better back to normal. They were trying to send me home from the hospital @ 2 days I was told my family is like you can't send her home like this! We are not taking her home like this! They save my life! [emoji173]

I am having my surgery on the 29th and starting my pre OP dier on the 17th. From what I've read from your experience and others, everyone's experiences are different. I am hoping for an easy surgery, but if there are hiccups along the way I have a small support system in place. I am glad to hear that your family are taking care of you, and that you are doing much better.

Yes Susie me too. I think it was the medication coming out of my system because I have a weak auto immune system! Feeling world's better. Plus I don't need all that medication anymore.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
