Weight gain at 4 weeks

Recommended Posts

Nearly everybody experiences a stall around Week 4. Gain? Not so much, but I guess it could happen. Water retention, body healing, all sorts of things come into play. But a Week 4 glitch is pretty common, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Currently experiencing the same thing. I hear this is very common at the time. My doctor advised I up my activity (I'm only clear to walk until week 6) and increase Water intake, but that this stall is normal. Weight gain could potentially be bloating, water, hormones, a whole slew of things.

As someone who militantly believed in CICO and that hormones were a cop out, this has been a tough pill to swallow but following my doctors advice has been yielding more results than my previous beliefs and efforts.

Did your doc mention how long this stall will last? Im very stressed out over this. For over 20 yrs ive dealt with hypothyroidism and hashimoto's. Ive tried every diet n exercise plan, even trainers and lost nothing. I finally worked up the nerve to do the surgery and to stall at 4 weeks is freaking me out. I know they say its normal so im trying to stay positive, just wondering how long does the stall last.

I learned to only weigh myself in the morning only, and ONLY on days I feel lighter. I have had 2-3 pound swings but I knew I didn’t gain weight because I eat less than 800 calories a day and never cheat. I just weighed a bit more for whatever reason that given day or time. I feel like I lose slowly, but in hindsight it’s been steady. If I wasn’t tracking what I ate I would be nervous about weight shifts.

I’m 8 months out and closing in on my goal.

edited to add: I just looked up my weight tracking, at 4 weeks my weight stalled for 3 weeks and then I only dropped 2 pounds. Looking back I remember thinking I was going to be the only person on earth that didn’t lose weight eating 600 calories a day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
