ZizerZazerZuz 3 Posted April 10, 2019 Hello. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for June 20th. The last time I had bloodwork was over a year ago, and I was low in Iron and Vitamin D. I have to have bloodwork within 30 days of my surgery, and I’m wondering if I’m still low, is it likely to delay my surgery? Has anyone’s surgery been cancelled for low iron or Vitamin D? justmetj 421 Posted April 10, 2019 I was low on Vitamin D and folate. My Dr. prescribed 50,000 units of vitamin D once a week along with a daily dose of folate. I only had two months of the Vitamins before my 4-04-19 surgery and it was not delayed because of it. I was never low on Iron though so you might want to call your Dr. and ask them. Also taking a Multi-Vitamin will help keep your levels up.
ejmom86 34 Posted April 10, 2019 I'm usually low in Vitamin D and that did not delay my surgery. I've also been anemic in the past but was happy to hear my pre op Iron levels were great! All that meat on the Keto plan I guess lol.Sent from my LM-Q910 using BariatricPal mobile app

FancyChristine15 810 Posted April 11, 2019 My D and Iron were low before and after surgery. It didn't cause any delays. I just took the supplements that my doctor told me to take.
