Mrs Q 1 Posted April 9, 2019 Does anyone on here have Aetna? If so how were they? I am new at this so please forgive all my questions. I have a seminar coming up next week.
lzucks 232 Posted April 10, 2019 I have Aetna. They required 6 months of medical supervision for weight loss before surgery, but didn’t require that I lost weight during that 6 months. They approved my surgery pretty quickly (about a week, I think). But there are many different Aetna plans so your requirements might be different than mine. SusieQ2019 567 Posted April 10, 2019 I have Aetna, Presently I am waiting for my approval submitted on April 3rd. Also if you do a search for Aetna myself and a few others have recently posted quite a few post regarding Aetna and our experiences so far. If you have any specific questions myself and many others will be glad to answer. Best of luck tomorrow.

GettingDHealthy 6 Posted April 10, 2019 I’m with Aetna too and am on month 5 of my 6 month medically supervised weight loss. I’m getting a little anxious to see whether or not they’ll approve me for surgery. 🤞🏼
Recidivist 1,141 Posted April 10, 2019 I have Aetna (federal government). As Izucks said, I was required to do six months of a medically supervised weight loss program. Since my BMI was just under 40, I also had to get proof of at least two co-morbidities (in my case, it was high BP, pre-diabetes and sleep apnea). Then they asked for two additional pre-surgery consultations with my doctor, which neither of us understood. After doing all that, I was approved the first time. SusieQ2019 567 Posted April 10, 2019 My Aetna plan required 3 visits with a dietitian/nutritionist and 4 consecutive visits with my surgeon. I was not required to do a medically supervised weight loss. 1 Cheeseburgh reacted to this
GettingDHealthy 6 Posted April 10, 2019 Dang! I had to have 6 months with my PCP, see a psychologist, a dietician and get chest x-rays/abdominal ultrasounds. The surgeon also requires that you attend 3 support group meetings.
SusieQ2019 567 Posted April 10, 2019 I had to get clearance from my PCP, sleep test, psychology, endoscopy and cardiologist who sent me to get the stress test. I go to their support group on my own as it i s not required.

YellowBird19 8 Posted April 10, 2019 Doctors went through the medical review board because I had unusual circumstances. I lost weight but was also retaining Water. Because I have Chronic Kidney Disease. Had to wait 4 days and it was over the weekend nerve racking. Got approval on Monday surgery was that Thursday
