brookeer76 3 Posted April 9, 2019 I have to drink a cup of Water before I can leave the hospital today. I was sleeved yesterday. Every time I try to sip, 2 min later I will be vomiting! This is not going to work! Any other ideas?
FancyChristine15 810 Posted April 9, 2019 Try to be sure you're not sucking in air. That is what I was doing wrong. And that's kind of what happens when one sips something. You almost have to slowly tip the Water back, but don't sip/suck it in, cause you're getting air in your belly that way, which made me nauseous. 2 1 thatch, nenes78 and GreenTealael reacted to this
FancyChristine15 810 Posted April 9, 2019 Also, maybe try different temperatures of Water. Some can only tolerate it at room temperature right after surgery. 1 1 GreenTealael and nenes78 reacted to this

I was nauseous all of Day 2 post-op and wasn't allowed to drink anything until around 7 pm that night, after my leak test had been confirmed no leaks. Then Day #3 I was fine and drinking and no nausea and was discharged. I couldn't have gone home on Day #2. 1 1 GreenTealael and Wickedwinner reacted to this

After surgery I would sip the Water, exhale, and then swallow the water did that for the first 2 weeks until it became easier drinking water again. I actually still do that after a workout or activity when I am breathing hard so I don't suck in air which is still uncomfortable after 1 year. 1 FancyChristine15 reacted to this
