Hair loss and hair dye and hair cuts.

Recommended Posts

I'm so sorry you're going through this, it sounds really difficult. Hair loss can be tough to deal with, especially when it feels like there's no end in sight. It's understandable that you're considering dyeing your hair for a change, but it's important to be cautious. Dyes can sometimes cause further damage to fragile hair, so it's best to chat with a professional stylist first. Also, have you tried batana oil? It's a natural remedy that some people find helpful for hair health. You can check it out at batanabio.com. Hang in there!

My hair goes to my navel. This is going to get interesting. My mother in law uses a hair powder at her roots to dye the scalp to reduce the bald look. It helps. I agree that dark is worse for white skin as the contrast is obvious. Anyone try a hormone blocker like finasteride on the scalp during this? I wonder if that would work.

Finasteride is usually for male pattern baldness...its not usually prescribed for women (I'm assuming OP is female). I concur lighter hair color works for pale skin Hair loss and darker for darker skin tones.

While usually used for males, it is also used for females with the issue. I’m not sure if it has ever been used for post surgical telegenic effluvium. Typically it lasts 3-6 months. sleep helps, Protein in the diet helps, stress reduction helps, keeping up with Iron, zinc and biotin/b, D Vitamins help, Omega 3 fatty acids in fish or flax oils, gentle brushing/washing, avoidance of sulfate free shampoos. Tricosphere F kit, hair top peptide serum or bontress pro serum, reducing hair length. :/. Pardon I’ve been reading about this because I love my hair. It’s the only pretty thing I’ve had for so long now. I’m worried I’m going to trade it.

I started losing my hair 3 weeks out and it hasn't slowed a bit. I've lost about 50% of my hair and have some noticeable bald spots now. I want to dye my hair dark - will the hair dye affect anything? I figure it's totally unrelated since the Hair loss is hormonal and my hair isn't actually DAMAGED and shouldn't break.
My hair looks thin and stringy. I am kind of thinking about shaving it totally off even though I would look ridiculous. I don't know what to do. Every day there are clumps in my shower drain I have to remove. Yes, I've tried all the supplements and special shampoos and blahblahblah. I've come to accept it's just going to happen and EVENTUALLY it will stop and everything will regrow... but it's been almost 6 months of this! Prior to surgery, I'd been trying to grow my hair out from a staggered forward bob and it's taken almost two years, so I'd rather not cut it... but when the new hair grows in, will it looks all patchy and uneven in length?
Maybe this belongs in rants and raves. lol. Any thoughts on the hair dye?

I would also suggest not just an overall dye but maybe highlights as well to give it some dimension. I've been too scared myself to dye my hair while its falling out but now that it's stopped I'm thinking about getting it balayaged
Omg I know... I had them use a cap once when I was younger... the painnn. I already have a sensitive scalp - other people shampooing my hair is torture. lol!
Hmm... I'll have to look into those. I just don't want anything that'll make me sweaty or itchy. Maybe extensions? I have full bangs, too, which are really thin looking. I'll have to find something with bangs.

So, I totally wanted dark hair with my natural hair as the highlights... but I don't know if it's possible for them to do that. lol. They'd have to pull my natural hair through a cap and dye the rest under it??? I don't even know. I worked in a salon a very long time ago and never saw that happen.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
