So I’m 3 days out and I’m barely consuming any liquids. And I’m really trying but the gas won’t move. I’m taking gas-x, walking, trying to consume warm liquid. Nothing moving at all. I know everyone is different but some are able to consume the exact amount before leaving the hospital. Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Ive been drinking the surgeon's goal for me since day 4. You must continue to take continuous baby sips even though you have gas pains. Dehydration is the number one cause of hospital readmissions. You can do this! The pains get better every day.

The gas doesn't go away until almost a week post op for me. But timing my liquids really did help to have it move around.

You just gotta do it. You can't risk getting dehydrated. Keep sipping constantly.

Maybe warm liquids as well? I had no problems, in fact was told to space out my sips but everyone is different. Just keep the sips up! The first few days are tough and you're over worried..you will get there..slow and steady!

I feel your pain. I was sleeved on the 9th and I am having the same issue. I have a lot of pain tho in my upper stomach whenever I try to drink and then get sharp pains it really stinks. I also found out that I had a hernia repair idk if that is why it is so uncomfortable but.. I feel your pain

Funny the no.2 thing has not been a problem as of today and I have been burping but dear lord drinking anything sucks. I thought best to try to get the Protein down over anything else, Water will come after.

Sorry it's hard for you , you can drink Decaf coffee to get bowls move more and of course fluids and like others said walking. Also Oikos zero yogurt is awesome many different flavors 15 grams of Protein and sugar free made with stevia. Highly recommend post opt, I hate broth! So I strain Soups for more flavors. I've been lucky with my recovery. Another thing i listened to healing music from you tube just a thought . I've been doing great1 Hang in there :)

You can try sipping other liquids like broth or fairlife milk or v8 juice or whatever makes the liquid more palatable for you. Sometimes just the tiniest taste of something in the Water makes it easier to drink (like a cucumber slice or a frozen mango chunk). Find the temp you like the best as well, hot or room temp or icy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
