Muaddib9 0 Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) I could drink them BEFORE the surgery. Thought they tasted horrible, but I could do it. Post surgery, they go through me so fast...it's like lightning. For hours. The only thing which seems to not is meat and pineapple (I know...but it's the only thing which makes me poop regularly). I've tried every kind and brand. whey, soy, all veggie, bone...the sports drink kind (still whey)...nothing works. I cannot be absorbing what I need if they are blazing through me like that. HELP! If you have medical concerns about the runs and not absorbing your foods, you may want to contact your surgeon’s office. How far out from surgery are you? What food stage? What foods are listed to eat? The choices you make will be a factor in your health and long-term weight loss outcome. 1 Briswife15 reacted to this
GradyCat 3,695 Posted April 7, 2019 It looks like you've tried different ones, so it shouldn't be a lactose issue. Have you called your surgeon's office? Are you using premade shakes or powders? I use GNC Lean shake 25 g Protein premade and they work fine for me. I've been using them for years pre-op and now post-op as well.
catwoman7 11,220 Posted April 7, 2019 (edited) some people become lactose intolerant after surgery. Maybe you're one of them? Try a Protein that that's not milk-based - there are some out there. (UPDATE: never mind - looks like you've already done that!!) Edited April 7, 2019 by catwoman7
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted April 7, 2019 Have you taken Probiotics since surgery? I was given antibiotics in the hospital which caused me to have terrible diarrhea. A few days on probiotics and I was much improved. Good luck!
