Post-op sleeve travel

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

I’m kinda new to this. I go to Florida about once a year and i want to know what and how everyone brings their diet supplies with them. Like the Protein Powder, little Snacks and what not. On a plane or driving!

Thank you everyone!

I'm a little over 5 months post op and I carry the following everywhere I go: beef Jerky, a day's worth of Vitamins & a thermos. Earlier when I was newly sleeved, I would also carry around a mix bottle with a scoop of Protein powder in it, and fill it with Water if/when I needed it.

I went on a two-week cruise two months post-op sleeve and I took Protein Snacks with me. I was very careful with my choices of food during the cruise and ate mainly protein, no Desserts, no ice cream and snacked on protein snacks that I had brought with me (almonds, protein Cake Bites, protein chips) if I was still hungry. It also worked well for plane travel to keep me from making bad choices. So yes, take your diet stuff with you. Oh, by the way, I lost 3 pounds on my 2-week cruise.

I bagged all my food by serving size (especially if the serving size required it being weighed) and packed Protein Bars I knew I liked.

I just flew from Las Vegas to Charlotte NC three days ago. I didn't eat for about 17 hours and went straight to the grocery store and got what i needed. I don't worry about lugging food along with me. Seems like too much work when there isn't anything to worry about in the long run. Just buy what you need when you get there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
